Title: Where you are going?
Post by: sam37 on August 27, 2013, 07:26:44 AM
So, Prag, Budapest and Vienna are booked, where you are going?

Europe - the only booked gig at this stage is Amsterdam, but the idea is to do Cologne too although I'm slightly put off by the extortionate ticket prices (€42 per ticket, what's that about? I'm sure last year it wasn't that much!)

UK: London, Brighton and Cambridge a given (must get my arse in gear and sort out tickets though), we're debating Manchester.

All the German dates plus Koln and  Amsterdam.  :)

So far I have booked up for Krakow and in the UK Bilston, Brighton, London and Nottingham plus still seeing what holiday I have left and see what I can fit in.

Bilston, Manchester, London, Cambridge, Nottingham, Paris, Paris, Larissa, Thessalonika and Athens, assuming all goes to plan. I really need a job with more annual leave  ;)

Cambridge, Frome, (Brighton?), London, Nottingham, (Koln?) for me.

Doesn't help that I just burned through a large chunk of leave the past fortnight!

As I only get 18 days leave per year :( and a large chunk is used for scooter racing I may only be doing a couple of UK dates but I have booked my first non UK dates and going to Thessaloniki and Athens  :)

No idea at the moment - it's far too early for me to be thinking about it.

Hamburg , Berlin , Falmouth , Brighton & London all booked, a trip to Ireland for Cork & Dublin gigs looking likely.

Manchester, definately... I'd love to go to Buckley (a venue I visited many a time in the 90's), but if you aint got a car, you ain't going there... and hopefully Nottingham in December, but as somone recently made redundant, I gotta see if the work situation works out...

I'd love to go to Koln, got a mate nearby, but again, it depends on whether I get a job...

I remember the days of seeing NMA as many times as possible...

I'm sure there'll be many of us travelling from Leeds to Buckley via the Manchester area.

Manchester, Cambridge, Brighton , London, Nottingham, Amsterdam and Koln with the Damned in London the night before Nottingham and The Wonder Stuff squeezed in the night before Amsterdam also in London too.

Just Leeds at the mo but would love to do one of the European gigs.  Cologne would be great but looks a bit pricey.  We'll see.

Paris-Paris-Koln-Amsterdam for sure  :D

Now thinking of Buckley and Manchester. Partly because I still have a few days of holiday at work and partly because I'm in Manchester on thursday 14th for the Gary Numan gig so I just stay there for NMA (and just can't wait untill december).
But is Buckley really in the middle of nowhere? I see there is a trainstation but nearly no hotels. Or is it easier to take the train and get a hotel in Chester on Friday? Getting back to Manchester on friday-night isn't  realistic, I think.  Who can help with some advice?

Buckley is pretty obscure.  it really is a small town in the middle of nowhere.  Maybe 20 miles away from Chester?  You could get taxi's but it would be pretty expensive.  Best to forget about it and go to Manchester, plenty of train and hotel options, IMO.  Hope you make it to as many gigs as you can.

Buckley appears to be in the middle of nowhere, but Chester is not too far away. If you're in Manchester, it's well worth trying to get Buckley sorted out because in the grand scheme of things, it isn't that far.

Well, I *would* be going to the London gig because I live there, but I've got a gig of my own that night. Talk about bad timing, and I can't get out of it...

So, possibly Manchester and Brighton.  :)

Both Manchester Ritz and Brighton Corcorde 2 are cracking good venues... although the latter can be a bugger to find if you don't know Brighton!  Me and my pal Dan went looking for it when we saw Lacuna Coil a couple of years back... it took us ages and Googlemaps is confusing... for the record, its right on the beach front!

Bilston, Falmouth and Frome so far. Just been given the nod for more cases around the country so planning more. Buckley and Manchester look likely.

There's a train station in Buckley?  :o

Well, it's been the best part of 20 years since I was last there...

plenty of places to stay in Chester... let me work out if this is a do-able thing in view of my current redundant cash-flow situation right now... love to go to Buckley again...
Title: Re: Where you are going?

At the moment, my plan is to stay over in Leeds and drive over to Buckley via Manchester (where I live) on the Friday afternoon and then drive back to Manchester on the Friday night after the Buckley gig. That plan MAY change, but if I do drive back to Manchester, I'll have some room in the car...and some room on the way there.

I think it'll be just Manchester, as Brighton's the night before my gig and I won't get home til something like 2am if I'm lucky and the night buses are kind... but thanks for the tip on the Brighton venue, I'm sure that'll come in handy!  :)

Just Ireland shows for me - but I think since I have to come from  the US that is understandable :) You all are making me jealous with how many you get to see, but I will be satisfied by the 2 I am sure. If only the Cork show would sort out tickets...
Also, anyone have tips for where to stay?

I'm doing most of the UK dates: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Leeds, Buckley, Manchester, Bilston, Cambridge, Brighton, London. (Cambridge and Brighton with the customary mad dash for the last train back to London.)

Also tempted by a trip across the channel in December...

Initially I was happy with just Manchester but as the UK leg of the tour draws closer I am thinking about Nottingham as I have a mate there and also Bilston and Buckley however not driving it does take some planning and money :(

Stuttgart, Zurich, Brighton, London, Cologne... maybe more on the UK tour... can't wait!   :o

Anyone up for three drinks or two tomorrow at the LKA before the gig?

BDAW is on constant rotation since the first day.... an absolute masterpiece IMO. Pull the Sun must be one of the most brilliantly intense songs ever written... unbelievable connection between music, lyrics and especially JS's delivery, blows me away on each listen.  :D

HI THERE
I missed the Berlin s gig unfortunately because 5 minutes walking from my place and unfortunately because I was in Africa for work. WTF after a long time unemployment here comes the assignment right on time to miss the new album and so many gigs I wanted to attend. Now with baby Maya is more difficult to move when I want (especially consiedering that I ve been away for almost 2 months) but I have to plan something for sure. I was hoping for Leeds or other gigs but I must first look for some flights or transport as cheap as possible. I was dreaming of Greec but I should go with Maya so who s going to look after her during the gig? She is born listening to navigating by the stars that is true but still...........difficult.
Just sharing my need of the band live again especially after the new album who sounds fantastic for what I have heard until now (first 3 songs).
Love to all
Simon

PS when I ll have more detailed plans I will post something if someone has not already done that
