Title: Magazine
Post by: peternotbaldyet on September 19, 2013, 09:32:18 AM
My mag turned up yesterday and it was on sale in WH Smiths in Bolton yesterday as well. Really interesting read. Robbs brother has an excellent piece in there and there is some sad stuff about Robb and how his illness affected him. Obviously, loads about the new album. Hoping it turns up tomorrow or Saturday.

Well I was in Bradford yesterday and they didn't have it in WHSmiths - what a poor show! Managed to pick one up today in a tiny newsagent's in Nottingham - It's an excellent mag, well worth getting hold of. Well done to all involved.

Yup, went into Chester and there it was, about six copies looking WAY cooler than all the other music magazines...

Really enjoyed the words of Joolz on her various artwork...

And I genuinely had a rush when my comments about 'My First NMA experience...' were printed in this lovely little artefact.  Wasn't expecting that... it made me proud that my stupid little posts were deemed worthy of inclusion.  Um, NMA, where you sending my little slice of the royalties...?   ;)

Funny how Chester had so many copies (I was in Manchester the other day and couldn't find a copy anywhere), I wouldn't have thought it as an NMA stronghold... to my knowledge, the last time they played there was a bit before TLOHC at the Northgate Arena (cracking gig!)...

Anyway, it's well worth a look, a bit pricey IMO, but sod that, get hold of it ASAP!

Oh, and as a lovely little bonus, as I walked out, I noticed that Ed Alleyne-Johnson was busking just down the road!  Awesome as ever...

Glad you got a copy, WH Smith in town always gets a really wide selection of mags :)

The gig at the Northgate was my very first live NMA experience and I've been in love ever since  :D

Ed is quite often in the centre and is more than happy to do a rendition of Vagabonds for a couple of quid.

df, I ALWAYS throw a couple of quid in EAJ's direction when our paths cross... what an amazing musician.

Your first NMA live show was the Northgate Arena?  Personally, I'd had a few before then, but what a brilliant gig to jump on board!

Hope you're coming to Manchester, looks like there's going to be a bit of a meet... details will doubtlessly follow.

Not sure if I can make Manchester, but I've had a ticket for Buckley since the release date  ;D

Aye, the northgate was my first live NMA experience, I was but a mere pup  :D

Finely  got hold of my copy of the magazine yesterday. Very impressive. Like a follow up to the 30th box set book. Looking forward to reading it. Was thrilled to see a typically rambling long winded post of mine had made it into the fans stories section.

Nice one Brian-DC, another finely worked product  :)

Yep, you're a superstar.

I picked up the magazine (from WH Smith) yesterday, and spent two blissful hours lost in it. Superb. Hugely interesting. Learned a lot about the band, had a few chuckles along the way, and really enjoyed reading all the fan stories (some of them for the second time!)

It's a fantastic mag, and I'm proud to have it in my collection.

Have enjoyed reading the mag from cover to cover. Have to say, the story there by Joolz really stood out for me. It was incredibly descriptive and well written , felt like I was actually there. I will be looking around at gigs from now on looking for the two big Italian chaps !!

I have  heard youtube poetry performances by Joolz, but not read any of her books. Can anyone recommend any such works, I really enjoyed her style of writing in that story and would like to find out more ? ? ? ?

Any of them!

Books - Billie Morgan & Borrowed Light are my fav's. Poetry - go for Pride Of Lions. If you ever get the chance to hear her read live then do it - spellbinding and shiver down the spine stuff. 'specially this one but buggered if I can remember what it's called.

Thanks Anna

I did a little research on-line and decided to go for -  The Curious Mystery Of Miss Lydia Larkin And The Widow Marvell.

Have you read it?. Sounded interesting from the reviews, so I ordered a copy. Looking forward to givin it a read.

Have now finished reading the mag, and enjoyed it immensely. It shall now be tucked away with my 30th anniversary box set (just remembered I didn't quite finish reading the book in that !!).
Many thanks to Brian-DC for putting together the mag - excellent work. Thanks also to NMA manager Jonathan Green for conceiving the idea to have a dedicated magazine. From what Justin said somewhere, it seems Jonathan is being very proactive regarding promotion of the band, and telling them what they should / need to be doing.

Thats why all there have been all the recent music press articles - there's obviously been a lot of press/PR work going on. Magazines dont just decide to feature a band - it takes a lot of work/pushing - so Jonathan Green has obviously been working hard

Indeed. That's why I thought we ought to give him a word of thanks for what he's been doing for our favourite band  :)

Anyone interested in getting a copy of the Magazine for me and swap it for a Brazilian pressing NMA LP/CD? I might be able to get Ghost, Hopeless Causes, History or Strange Brotherhood...
