Title: German Season Tickets 2014
Post by: Viv Savage on January 17, 2014, 12:34:18 PM
There will be a VERY limited number of season tickets available for the German leg of the Between Dog And Wolf Tour Part 2 which starts in March. When They are gone they're gone! They are only available until February 14th 2014 or until they are sold out which ever comes first. You can purchase them from HERE (http://shop.newmodelarmy.org/german-season-tickets-2014-p-1021.html)

How it works:
Upon purchase of a ticket you need to email a good quality passport type picture to viv.nma@gmail.com. This will then be used to put on the season ticket which will be a laminated pass. The photo will also be included in a door-book incase of accidental problems (ie. lost passes etc). The tickets will be sent out no later than two weeks before the first show and we will issue an email confirming that they have been sent.

PLEASE NOTE: a season ticket can not be issued unless we recieve a photograph.

German Season Tickets cover the following dates:
14 March Augsburg
15 March Lindau
16 March Freiburg
17 March Frankfurt
18 March Karlsruhe
20 March Saarbrücken
21 March Coesfeld
22 March Kiel
23 March Beverungen
29 March Bremen

We looked at this, but it wasn't economically viable on the number of gigs we're doing.  It's the VAT that was the killer for UK types!

On our requirement of 3 people doing 7 gigs and 1 person doing 4 gigs (obviously the latter is nowhere near season ticket territory and even 7 was unlikely)  then it was cheaper to do a  bank transfer to Contour for 25 individual tickets + P&P, including the UK bank charge of a tenner for the international transaction.   The tipping point worked out at something between 8 and 9 gigs.

Leaving bank charges out of the calculation but allowing for P&P on an order for several individual tickets, the season ticket tipping point is somewhere just short of 9 gigs at individual purchase price + per ticket booking fee (at today's NAT WEST exchange rate of £1 = €1.1830.  Obviously you can't pay for point something of a gig and so 9 is the point where it's worthwhile getting a season ticket:

1 ticket €29.9 = £24.42
p&p €4.70 = £3.83 (on 4 or more tickets)

8 gigs at £24.42 + Contour postage £3.83 = £199.19
9 gigs at £24.42 + Contour postage £3.83 =  £223.61
Season ticket price with UK VAT £222.00

So, if you're coming from the UK and doing all 10 then you get one and a bit gigs free.   A season ticket is most probably worthwhile for 9 gigs if you factor in a bank transfer fee or credit card fee of 3.5% from Contour (obviously the % depends on the value of your overall ticket order if going direct to Contour).

Sorry to burst your enthusiastic economic guru bubble there Hughie (big ups for the analysis though!), but the price for a German season ticket is £185 and that INCLUDES the VAT. It's a flat rate. The confusion maybe because when you click on the season ticket it goes to a page that says it's £220.00 with VAT, but on checkout the VAT does not get added.

But well pointed out - I shall be asking the question about the VAT thing showing up on that page with our tinterweb guru as it is misleading I think it shouldn't be there. Whether we can actually change this remains to be seen as it's in the coding...

I will, however, change the Shop page to point out that there is no VAT to pay on the ticket. That I can do!

Have you ordered tickets from Contour yet or not?

Viv.

Yes, I just saw it fairly clearly add VAT and so did my sums based on the higher price.   Typically, after days of failing to make it out to the bank at dinner time, I had just gone and sorted it all yesterday and the individual tickets have now been despatched.

Not to worry, I think it was still just about borderline whether individual tickets or a season ticket worked out best.   We did discuss doing Augsburg and or Beverungen but we decided on doing the maximum possible on 5 days leave instead, to keep some back for a couple of Scandinavian dates.

Yes, if you're doing seven then I guess you're on the cusp of either / or.

It is annoying that the VAT price shows on the season ticket page despite the fact that none is added at the checkout. We are looking into that, but it seems to be a coding issue so it might take some time if it's at all possible :(

After the cancellation of the tour and subsequent re-scheduling we're looking into season tickets for October. I will let you all have details as and when I get them.
