Title: March Dates Postponed until October
Post by: Viv Savage on February 14, 2014, 03:58:47 PM
Sadly the March dates have had to be postponed. From the NMA Homepage:

Michael Dean went for a routine minor knee operation in January with an expected recovery time of a couple of weeks. However, due to surgical complications, he developed blood clots the muscles of his calf. These remain serious despite several weeks of intensive treatment and we have now been advised by the Consultant in charge that it will be impossible for Michael to be in a fit condition to tour by mid March. So with great regret we have been forced to postpone the coming shows in Germany, Scandinavia and Holland until October. Please hold on to tickets purchased whilst we reschedule the shows as existing tickets will be valid.

Michael: "My leg is recovering but right now it is still very painful. Many of the places we are visiting in October we haven’t played in a while. The postponement will ensure when we play we guarantee our best possible show to make the extra wait worthwhile!"

The rescheduled dates in October will be announced next week. Uk shows in April are not affected.

More infos as and when we get it.

It's a real shame but Michael's future health is much more important!

Shame, I was looking forward to the Oslo and Stockholm dates, but hey - health is more important; hopefully I'll be able to make the rescheduled ones (it would certainly be more likely if they were on a weekend, hint hint ;) )

That's too bad. But to me, it just goes to show what a very professional live band they are. Some might say get a stand in, its only for a few gigs,  but he is 20% of a unit that runs as one, rehearsed to perfection.

Chin up Michael. If I believed in a god, I would prey to her for a speedy recovery. Looking forward to hearing you play when your tip top again.  :D

Much sympathy also for those here who booked time of work to do the German leg, hotels, and all the rest of it. Remember MARXIE selling his rare T-shirts on ebay to raise money for it.  :(

Hope you guys can rearrange it all again for October when Michael is drumming fit again  ;)

Viv, do you know about support acts will they do the March gigs anyway?
Sullivan as a solo act, Blackballed and Levellers at March gigs might go well too as the NMA cancelled.

Not that this would be so big surprise, but of course this brings us a bit down.  :-\

Bad news, however a blessing in disguise for me as my car is buggered and I was really starting to panic.

Get well soon Michael.

No sympathy required Shush the Shirts I sold were spare ones and raised my Season Ticket money  ;D
Holidays already cancelled likewise the Hotels.
And I now have time to get another car sorted.  :)

I hope everyone else has managed to sort out their travel arrangements etc

Roll on October or whenever the bands ready.

Straight on for the days ahead.

Those crooks at Ryanair are charging 2 of us £172 to change our Stansted to Bremen flights from March to October!!!!  :-[

Too steep for us so it's goodbye £100 already paid and goodbye Bremen.

Damn you cursed blood clot but get well soon Michael. Shit happens I suppose.

£172!!! That's just outrageous! So it would be cheaper to just buy new tickets that adjust the ones you've already bought. Wow! Which CEO thought that was a great commercial selling point for a company? Oh, it's Ryanair...

And after being voted the worlds worst airline for the nth year running they announced they were changing their policies a few weeks ago. Yeah right!

Is there any update on whether the April gigs are deffo going to happen?

Don't wish to sound insensitive, and I would MUCH rather the dates be cancelled rather than push MD into a situation where he wasn't 100% ready (thus risking further problems) but folks are looking at travel / hotel / time off arrangements etc...

Feeling a bit awkward saying it... again, here's hoping for a full recovery... please keep us posted.

I would try looking at Ryanair prices again in July / August. Currently the Bremen flights are £40ish each way from Stansted, but often drop right down to around £20 each way a bit closer to the time...

Cheers Bill B, I'll check again in the Summer.

The other problem is Ryanair don't operate their morning flight to Bremen in October as they do in March so it means now leaving on the Friday with another hotel night and time off work now involved.

Just one of those things that can't be helped unfortunately.
