Title: Stand in drummer for April date
Post by: Red on March 31, 2014, 08:06:51 PM
Just seen this on Facebook

Michael Dean Update & Tour News

Following a routine knee operation in January our drummer Michael suffered some post operation complications, which necessitated the postponing of our Spring European dates which are now rescheduled for October.

Very unfortunately serious complications associated with this operation have made it clear that Michael will need further time to recuperate. We regret that he will not be recovered in time for the UK shows in April. In order not to disappoint those who have bought tickets and made plans, we have brought in respected drummer Andy Woodard from Adam Ant's band to join us as a temporary stand-in for Michael, so the shows can still go ahead.

Said Michael, 'When it became clear my leg would not allow me to do the April shows, we realised that we would need a stand-in and selected Andy as the best candidate. In the meantime we've been working together on new songs, which should be out later this year. I'm now looking forward to when I can play live again, which I hope will be very soon'

Said Andy 'This is a very special opportunity and I am excited to be able to play these shows whilst Michael recuperates.'

April dates are:

22nd Bristol, Fleece *Sold out*

23rd Oxford, O2 Academy

24th Holmfirth, Picturedrome

25th Warrington, Parr Hall

26th Whitby Goth Weekend (headline slot)
Day tickets are sold out, but some weekend tickets are still available

27th Norwich, The Waterfront

Better for the band in the long run. Guess this may change the set list but it's not as if there's only half a dozen songs to pick from.

New songs? Marvellous  ;D

Hopefully that's a nice new NHS bionic knee in Mr Dean's leg.

 :-*

p.s. Thanks for putting that up here Red for those of us who don't do GCHQbook (even if that does make us outdated 20th century no-hopers)

Sorry to hear Michael is in a bad way, but great that they found an excellent stand-in and will be going ahead with the shows.

Very sorry to hear Michaels recovery is taking longer than expected. I am sure he is more gutted than anyone for him to be missing the April dates.

When I heard this I thought it was an April Fool prank, given the timing.
Best wishes on your recovery Michael.
