Aw, **** yeah, my first NMA gig was Manchester Academy in 1990 on the IMPURITY tour, a skinny young lad in his first moshpit, 'Whirlwind' kicked in and he was battered about like a leaf on the breeze... emerging a few numbers later with a glazed thousand-yard-stare expression, muttering 'what... was... that...'

Yup, I went in a boy and I came out a man...

 ;D

I like that story and very poetically recounted if I may so so

That Oxford gig was one of the 'secret' gigs that I think were not advertised and only billed via the NMAFC newsletter. It was at this gig that I first really 'got' the whole NMA thing, I had seen them several times before over the previous years but this particular night it all sort of clicked into place and I came away hot sweaty and a different person. All sounds a bit melodramatic now but it was a pivitol night in my life.

Was that the ones with the skull T Shirts where they were billed as Raw Melody Men? Went to the gig at The Venue, New Cross.

Dunno about take you back - make you feel old more like  ;D

The new cross gig was a week or so earlier and was billed as the Grim Northern Bastards  -  another top night ,  don' t know about feeling old as it only feels like it was last year or so not 20  + years ago.

The older you get the better it gets, like the man said

Get you - what I meant was suddenly realising it was 20 years ago that gives the ageing feeling. I can still picture my mate chucking his guts up all over the place after over indulging like it was yesterday  ;D

Excellent!

What a song and what an atmosphere it caused when played live.....still has the same effect now!!!

I remember the song from 21st April 1993 when i was at the Hummingbird on the Love of Hopeless Causes tour.

I do recall on that tour listening to NMA do a cover of Joe Cocker Summer in the City. They don't do too many covers now do they or am i just missing them ?

Thanks for the post anyway, brings back great memories.
