Have any of us talked about food yet? If not... what would your favourite meal be?
For me, it'd have to be a full English breakfast... not fancy, I know, but so bloody lovely...
Two sausages, two fried eggs (with runny yolks), two slices of bacon, baked beans, black pudding, mushrooms, a fried slice and as much toast as you can manage... possibly some bubble 'n' squeak if I happen to be down south...
Yourselves..? ???
-
thats all i needed, a food thread
favourite. something asian probably.
-
Fave meat -- Chicken
-
I'm vegan but a vegan version of the full English is one of my faves. They do it at a great cafe I go to in town. Other than that, vegan lasagne, 'proper' chips and loads of beans. Oh and a couple of slices of white bread. Refined? You bet! 8)

Sorry, Barty, respect to your vegan beliefs, but I can't resist posting this clip...

Ive got to recommend A Killie Pie to everyone Killie is the nickname for Kilmarnock in case your wondering Aldi have started selling them
Food is a bit like music for me depends on your mood
Chinese - chicken satay chow Mein
Breakfast Bacon rolls, Rolls on square sausage, Alpen
Indian Korma or rogan josh lamb with nan bread, chicken pakora
Chippy Fish n chips (haddock) Haggis, Fritters (kinda big chip in batter)
Healthy Chicken and bacon salad or prawn Pasta salads
Special mention Home made soup lentil or potato
-
my second fave meal (after the full English that I mentioned originally...) ?
Gotta be a chippie tea. Could be the standard fish and chips (personally, I'd go for haddock rather than cod, but whatever...) but tonight it was a steak pie, chips and mushy peas with lots of gravy poured on top... ******* beautiful...
:D
-
mmmmmmmm sounds good ray
i like a good old chippie tea
i'm a chips and batter burger and maybe a wing of fried chicken
heaps of ketchup
and if i am pushing the limits of clogging arteries then a deep fried beef curry pie smothered in salt and vinegar
bet ya i have mad cows disease
it was either the food or the missus
gonna delete this shortly
i've gone mad

Now THERE's a man who knows his food!
**** healthy eating. We're all gonna die. :D Might as well make it all tasty and shit on the way down!
:P
-
yeah, but i'd rather die healthy
-
Um, nobody dies healthy, mate... ???
-
yeah, but you can be healthy up to that point instead of ill from the shit their feeding us. like if i went mad on chippie tea and cans of devils bit at the rate i know i am capable of then reality is in five years time i'll hardly be able to walk, breath or talk. i don't fancy that. that said, i'll go out in a blaze when the time is right rather than hang around.
we'll see anyway mate. we'll hopefully be posting here for many years to come.
-
I'm a big fan of a massive steak (sorry Barty!) but probably my favourite meal would have to be a really good curry, and if I had to pick a favourite curry it'd be Lamb Rogan Josh. YUUUUUUM.
-
Not sure about my favourite but i do love chips and gravy with scraps :) :)
-

ah scraps!!! The missus who lives in Norfolk calls them scrapa. They're called bits where I live lol.
Anyhoo. Black pepper Tikka massala made by my fair hand from a curry cook book. Its fab!
-
Difficult one but Full English, Curry and Steak and Chips are probably the three meals I would have to list as favourites.
-
Got to give a shout out to the Tunnocks biscuits range especially the tea cakes although the caramel wafers n logs are both excellent (if your reading this post boyd send us a box lol) Ok there a snack n not a meal but i thought they definitely deserve a mention
-
Fave food ?
Anything I don't have to make myself !
:)
Not saying I'm a bad cook, because I'm quite good, even if I do say myself and I've had no complaints over the years and I run the cooking club at school, but it's nice to go out or have a takey way.
:)
The thing that does my head in at the moment though is pubs that don't do plates and serve food on chopping boards. Wooden chopping boards. Wooden chopping boards shouldn't be used in commercial kitchens because they're a germ/bacteria play ground and I have to see food served on them unless it's a ploughman's lunch (which is my lunch of choice at the moment).
>:(
When Mark suggests we go for a meal in a pub the first questing after "Are you serving food ?" is "Do you have plates?" I once ordered soup just to see how it was served in a non plate pub ! For the record it was in a soup bowl but the bread came baked in a flower pot, I kid you not !
;D
Sooooo, fave food at the moment..good old Ploughman's Lunch.
*slurp*

I feel extremely boring but I actually really *like* healthy food. Stir fries, salads etc. Lots of fresh vegetables and a bit of meat here and there.
-
Chicken Omelette with chips and a lot of curry sauce. Washed down with a pint of milk :P

Tunnocks Teacakes... food of the gods!
-
Teacakes? What`s that? Very british me thinks
I prefer jacket potatoes with butter (or fried potatoes with onions and beacon), matjes of the new matjes season, curd, cucumber 8)
-
For your Tunnocks teacakes info

-
I'll stick to the Caramel Wafer !!
-
Sod it, can't be arsed to cook tonight, so it's over to my local takeaway for a big pizza... a simple pepperoni and mushrooms with a couple of slices left over for breakfast! ;)
BTW, am the only person here who loves to dip his pizza slices in mayonnaise? Nobody else I know does that! ???
-
Any curry after a gig works just fine for me :-)
Cheers
jc
-
Mogal-E-Azam on Goldsmiths Street for you again in December no doubt :D
-
Be rude not to
Cheers

-
Curry after a gig! Yay! Well up for that!
How does that fit in with the pre-gig meet - GIG - after-gig party? ???
-
Curry is always post gig as, from past experience, it is no fun bouncing on a full stomach; don't worry you can eat and do the after-gig.
Cheers
jc
-
It depends on how i am feeling. I love food a lot and can not decide on my favorite meal.
It's easier for me to list, foods that i find to be nasty. :)
-
The local Chinese have started doing a chicken satay chow Mein its awesome
Kinda got a taste for the big king burger at the moment as well
-
Its got to be chicken curry for me, home made of course.
I could eat it every day. Well probably not every day but alot :)
-
Smoked barbeque seitan with mustard and a bacardi breezer. :)
-
Well, tonight for me it's a Wrights meat and potato pie with a bunch of roast potatoes and utterly drowned in thick Bisto gravy... debating whether to throw on a big dollop of mushy peas on the side...
Yup, I'm obviously from the North of England... :D
-
OK, I wouldn't say it's a 'favourite' meal, but just got a pizza from my favourite dodgy takeaway just around the corner from my flat... pepperoni and mushroom laid on a weird orange cheese base that I suspect might be slightly radioactive...
Oh what the hell, it's bloody tasty, especially when dipped in mayonnaise...
;)
-
At the moment Mushroom risotto with Parmesan cheese shredded on top.
or any type of risotto for that matter. I make it myself, it takes 20 minutes of constant stirring but is as addictive as crack.
-
Taking the great bacon roll debate to the next level i like to have a tattie (potato) scone with mine also works equally as well with sausages / links or as part of a full breakfast
-
I love many different foods, but I'm particularly looking forward to bangers and mash with onion gravy later this evening!
-

Pol, I have only been to Scotland a couple of times (I know, for shame etc... ???) but what are those square sausages called that they serve you for breakfast? Bloody lovely!
-
There just called sliced or square sausage ray sometimes they call be called lorne sausage and your right they are excellent and very much a part of the Scottish diet
-
Turns out we went for a curry instead of cooking bangers, mash and gravy.
Can't complain. Don't reckon a curry can be beaten, when it's as good as our local!
-
a jam sandwich, or jam on toast
-
Curry and chips. Mr Milligan will explain...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkAEfhOMuLI
-
Chips and curry? Always awesome!
Not so much that 70' TV show... :D
-
Oven cooked fish ( cod or haddock) with cheese and broccoli pasta (those packets of paste that you and water milk n butter and boil)
-
Antacid tablets followed by two senna
-
I don't have one but am craving a good Turkish kabab and the vine leaves stuffed with whatever that amazing filling is.
Also Bitterballen. One of the best things the Dutch has given the world!
I also have chicken Kiev on my mind.
The worst thing about traveling is getting to taste such foods, becoming addicted and not having them readily available everywhere.
-

But are you in Greece now? You should try their authentic tzatziki there. Boureki and mixed vegetables are good too. Yum.
-
Very rare steak, with a peppercorn sauce... that goes down a treat in this house.
-
I've just eaten 2 bits of a giant Toblerone .

-
Corned beef hash (with a fried egg on top) anyone?

I'll go with chicken tikka masala ONLY if it comes from a proper Indian restaurant and is proper blood-red, not that orange crap that supermarkets try and sell to you...
-
Spam fritters !!!!!!!
Sponges of grease masquerading as meat.
NICE :P

Spicy Nik naks

I have lots of favorites but I will admit I am a Surf & Turf kinda of person so any Fish or Shell fish plus a med rare Steak and I am all good. I can substitute Chicken for the steak plus some stir fry veggies and some mashed potatoes and I am in Nirvana. 8)
-
Not a meal but I've just had a couple of squares of dark chocolate.
*slurp*
-
Bumping this one, just because...
A lovely Chicken Balti, no rice but a couple of large fluffy naan's to mop it all up...
:)

Yes ;)
Wot Sheena said - now stop being a naughty boy >:( ;D
-
BUMP, it's been a while... and everyone loves food, right?
Where do you lot stand on Toad In The Hole? Especially with thick onion gravy poured over the top?
New rule. No mention of that awful thing called 'salad'. Yes, it's healthy and stuff, but it's also mostly tasteless and has a texture I despise. Nobody really likes salad. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
;)
-
Hmmmm, food - love that way too much ;-)
Pizza and pasta always work for me, my favourite pizza is with tuna, shrimp, spinach, fresh tomatoes and mozarella cheese.
I also like a good curry
Ice cream...and anything with caramel, toffee and/or cinnamon ;-) Well, not in combination with pizza or pasta.
-
Anything by my landlords wife. Beef olives or steak with the trimmings. At the Chinese it's been special fried rice with curry sauce mainly as it's tasty n not too much. Toad in the hole is ok ,think you would need a good home made one

Love salad !
I have it everyday for lunch all through the summer (actually easter through to october) then soup from October to Easter.
:)
My salad today was spinach, rocket, basil, baby tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, olives, cumcumber and goats cheese. A bag of red grapes for pudding.
:)
-
Liver & onions with 3 or 4 slices of doorstep bread to mop the gravy up :)
-
As no one has mentioned puddings I have to start with my all time favourite which the better half makes as we grow rhubard at home
Rhubarb and ginger crumble with loads of custard :) :)
-
So, salad, liver and rhubarb...
I think this thread is lost to me.
;)
-
Well I had a donner kebab tonight my first in a long time gotta admit it was fckin tasty
-
Any and every post-gig meal is my fave, come and join me for the next one.

While I have spent a nice day outside, I've still had an idea to make some parsnip steaks. Thinking I'll adjust some wheat gluten this time.
Any and every post-gig meal is my fave, come and join me for the next one.
Hey, that sounds like a nice idea over there. :)
