Windows Of The World, from an obscure 80's film called '1969'...
The Pretenders doing a Burt Bacharach song, with Johnny Marr on guitar? I'll have a bit of that! :D
C'mon, you lot, post your fave obscure track!

Love that song, Darkness! I must investigate The Prids... a bit of guidance here?
Here's one not a million miles away from that sound, The Cinematics, 'Strange Education', really like this one...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1avYufFt8RI
Please, guys, post some more tracks and links, just make sure they're nice and obscure... let's give some forgotten bands some exposure! ;)

I love it. Decent band that never really made it but did some cracking tunes
-
I've mentioned the brilliant and forgotten band Feline before on other threads, but here we go again... SUN IN MY EYES, love this tune... ;)

:o

There are some interesting video links here.
This had less than 400 followers on spotify which means it's fairly obscure. I am not sure why i like this. It's completely insane but passionate. Forward Russia is the artist and not sure how i heard of them. Likely lastfm or some music blog.

Love that song, Darkness! I must investigate The Prids... a bit of guidance here?
Glad you liked it! I enjoyed THE CINEMATICS, cool song.
As for THE PRIDS, start with Love Zero and ...Until The World Is Beautiful albums. If you struggle getting hold of them I could do you some CDRs :)
Here's another band ... ;)

THE ASTRONAUTS - Typically English Day

The Blue Garden by Masters Of Reality...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxc4B1Jsix4
:)
-
Blaggers ITA, Stresss (shitty quality video, sorry, best I could find...)
A band who could have been huge (saw 'em supporting The Manics) but for the fact that the singer allegedly punched an NME journalist and thus killed their career... gonna find a link to their fantastic album BAD KARMA for you lovely lot to enjoy... singer Matty died a few years ago...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2Wt7YRmlYo
-
... and here's the full BAD KARMA album, just in case you were interested...

Love this band. :D
-
Just thought of these guys, David R Black! this is 'Empire Building'...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iBtPlpO44o
They supported NMA at that Preston gig a few years back, was the place called 53 Degrees? a mental, tiny, cramped, sweat-soaked gig and one of the best NMA gigs I ever saw... :D

Here is my favourite Masters of reality song

Here's the title track from one of my favourite instrumental (mostly) albums;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDTNY57rfQ8
Great stuff by Vernon Reid from Living Colour
And here's another track off the same album - with a glorious laid back groove;

Love Thing by Joe Satriani.
This has to be one of the most beautiful, heartfelt pieces of guitar playing I know;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hw4cG2SwIFY
-
Here's something that sounded like nothing else I'd heard up to that point in the early 80s.
Daft lyrics and vocals which can only be described as an acquired taste ! Some fantastic twin guitar riffing though, and I think these guys were quite influential in that respect with this kind of music. It's a long track this one, but stick with it as it keeps changing.
Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCxo6Mmxee0
-
Satriani :) -> G3 - Rocking in free world -> the result is
Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia and this version of Mediterrainian Sundance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C97H_HvBjPA
Two guitar heroes playing a song live many years after they`ve done a perfect studio version (I love it, but post the link of this version) and talking with their eyes how to continue to perform the song (who with a short solo now or later)
Love Thing by Joe Satriani.

SWERVEDRIVER - Kill The Super Heroes
Love this song... :-*
-
Some great songs here, please keep 'em coming...
Now, I can't remember if I saw POWER OF DREAMS supporting NMA or The Levellers, but this a terrific tune from the early 90's... anyone clue me in on this one? Here's 'There I Go Again' (and the album it came from is also terrific, check it out if you like this song...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8JSwZYNTk0
-
The Frank And Walters, 'Happy Busman'... an eternal support band who has one top 20 hit (not this tune!) and who should have been bigger...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE7YSbZooqI

I was checking out some old metal bands that I liked in the 90's and came across Tura Satana... cracking good band... here's 'Luna'... not very good quality video, but a great tune...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lExIqWXfyVM
-
Oh, sod it, here's a VERY early and rare Manic Street Preachers b-side, 'Teenage 20/20', complete with such a geeky picture of the lads... really like this tune... most folks don't know how punky they were in the early days...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cJoTVUOPeo
;D
-
yeah, the early stuff was full on punk influenced.
the over produced through the 4th album and then into mainstream decay for me
this is like a ray does dj ...... its great. picking up so much i hadn't heard
good thread
now i gotta reach into the archives and spend some time rediscovering

Dr Phibes And The House Of Wax Equations, 'Hazy Lazy Hologram'...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRHXpute4XE
I was at college with these guys back in the 80's... and, on a rather more disturbing note, the singer Howard is now doing life for killing his mother... :-\

EASTERHOUSE - Get Back To Russia

Good tune, but the 2nd best band from Manchester...?
Joy Division (and then New Order), The Hollies, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, James, Doves, the Bee Gees, The 1975, Happy Mondays, The Chameleons... and so many others...
Respect to your opinion, but I'd love to see what your number one Manchester band was...?
???
-
I only said possibly, as for the 1st JOY DIVISION of course.
The 1975... :o they come from where I live.

Do The 1975 not come from Manchester? Thought they did, apologies if I'm wrong...
-
They come from Wilmslow, which to the average person would get classed as Manchester.

started this evening with Lee Clayton live Rockpalst 1980 DVD (on stage with Tony Newman, Philip Donnelly, Colin Cameron) in Hamburg (links are lp versions, live with more power)
Perhaps he is still touring USA (outlaw country?), but here he was an one hit lp artist and I prefer the outlaw songs
