I've seen photies on this here forum - and I'm wondering how to upload some NME clippings for folk to be outraged at - Any techno wizards out there that can guide an old man through this malarky please?
-
I would also like to know how to do this... :-\
-
Hi Knievel. Ok, I've tried to explain it earlier here too but I saw it's not so easy, because if we use the right kind of parenthesis inside links, it doesn't show up here but is a correct link to somewhere in the net. So I'll try to tell it in a different way:
You can link to any picture on the net by copy-pasting the address of the photo at the site where it is. For example, right click the photo and open it in another window. And copy the address from the address bar...
Then here on the forum when posting a reply; just paste the address and then highlight it. Then click on the "mona lisa" pic/tab ) on a left in the second row of commands above the smileys. Now it's done.
----
If you're putting a photo or a link to somewhere in the net and want to name the link with a name of your own (so that we don't see the address but just the text you gave), the rules are the same as above BUT instead of clicking to "mona lisa" click on to "planet earth" tab second to it. What it does, it gives a command (url) address (/url) around it. The right kind of parenthesis' are actually [ ] signs and not the curved ones I used... And how to give a name of your own to link?
This way. Here is the correct address to some certain photo of Finnish owl species I want to give a name before linking to it:
http://www.ilkkajaakola.fi/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Lapinp%C3%B6ll%C3%B6.jpg
Ok. I'll paste it on here and add to start (url= then the pasted address) then a name like: this owl is called 'lapinpollo' in Finnish, and the the closing url command which is (/url). Remeber to use [ ] signs instead of ( ).
So next here is the correct link (you can always quote on the posts and check the right kind of typing which is inside the links):
this owl is called 'lapinpollo' in Finnish (http://www.ilkkajaakola.fi/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Lapinp%C3%B6ll%C3%B6.jpg)
Note: in this post there are also orange color commands in links you'll find when you quote this post. I used color commands, because for some reason I can see all of the links in white color in my computer at home, but in orange at my work.

I am a total computer biff and I manage it using Imgur website.
Join Imgur upload a picture into your gallery and then pick the code from the menu on the right that corresponds with the relevant message board or forum and then paste it on here.
I dont use Photobucket as I find it a total pain.
Hope that helps.

there seems to something funny with the imgur link when you select the link.
if you right click on the image and select copy the image url it comes out like this - http://i.imgur.com/vuzoNAm.jpg
then come back to nma forum and in the reply box select the mona lisa icon. if then insert the link that you copied by press shift+insert
if you are confused then simply quote this post and you will see the syntax for the image to be displayed

i think the next tip we need to to resize the images so that they are not so big
-
Ah bollox - i'm at work now till lord knows when - I'll get back to this soon
-
no worries
if you post the links then no bother to display the images
-
Kneivel glad i could help, it really is easy just play about with it.

ignore this folk - it's a note found elsewhere here that I'm pasting here for when I stry ruscos advanced manouvre.
Here's another technical tip many doesn't often know:
-how to put a link (to somewhere in the net) with a word you want to specify; like fat which leads to a hamburger photo.
Write for example: "fat" (without asterisks) -you can decide the word you want to ;D
Highlight it and click the tag Insert Hyperlink
Then continue before the first ending parenthesis: type = and the link address you want the text "fat" to lead to.
You can see it here now in a plain text form as I use wrong type of rounded parenthesis: (url=http://wiseguyspizzacafe.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/hamburger.png)fat(/url)
-the green coloured part is the copypasted link with an addition of = sign in front of it...
So you should use Alt Gr when typing parenthesis signs, not Shift. So it's only actually about couple of url-words with parenthesis and a right place you insert the copypasted link.

Aw you found that older tip. Wait a sec, I'll change your link in the test 5 and you can quote this post when you can see it in a right form. I'll suppose you tried this:
what a moon (http://imgur.com/mL5v3V6) last night huh?
EDIT: ok cheers, you did it! ;)
-
Ah Rusco looks like we were writing at the same time - yeah I got in the end - I was putting the hyperlink in the wrong places - your instructions clearly say to get that hyperlink in the first parenthesis but still I was stubbornly placing it in the last one - sure - I got it once I'd slowed down and read your instructions again
Cheers man.
