Title: BWAB - The Live Album
Post by: Shush on September 18, 2014, 08:24:31 AM
Not usually a big fan of live albums but Must say, the live album is every bit as fine as I hoped it would be. I hope some of the people who were a bit unsure about BDAW can see the songs in a new light now. All of them take on strong energy when played live. Plus, nice to be reminded of the superb live gigs last year.

Would be nice to know which songs were recorded where, do anyone have a breakdown of this ?

One slight observation, is it just me, or does anyone else suspect some of the BVs have been added afterwards, or maybe turned up in the mix from recording at the time? If so, not a criticism, just an observation.

I kinda thought that the whole recording had been cleaned up a bit, not saying that's a bad thing though and yes i prefer listening to the live album but maybe that's because its fresh and new Nma have always been a live band Thought it was a bit of a strange concept only having songs from the bdaw album at first, i was expecting a more traditional live album with some of older songs as well but even again that would have been a double album on its own and wouldn't have fitted with the bwab concept. I would imagine that was the original plan until Michael hurt his leg and we got the 6 new songs

I was really impressed with the quality of the live disc, When I first heard BDAW I thought it would be hard for the band to capture that sound live but when I went to see them it just worked - the songs sound better live I think and this album proves that very well.  ::)

Someone else mentioned that weren't too wild about the live stuff because it was so close to the original.  Can't say I agree totally, but I did love 'And Nobody Else' for the reason that the songs were so different.

Also - I noticed in a recent interview that the band had no intentions of doing the tour an album concept, but they release a live album of the album they just released.  Ironic, ain't it?

The live album is suburb. Whatever Jo Barresi did was incredible. I know nothing about music editing, just that it sounds good. Not every fan will be impressed with everything a band puts out but i don't think they care one bit.

Not a breakdown, but I recognised Between Dog and Wolf and Summer Moors, as being from the November London show last year. Of course, there is a big clue in justin's intro to Summer Moors  ;)

I actually think that in Live albums one should hear the crowd singing along. That makes me shiver and bring back memories. only the people shouting at the beginning (sometimes) or in the end (sometimes) of the songs is for me pointless. like for **** Texas. Did not enjoy this too much. Still the songs are great butr withoiut some more moments of new model army family interacting is just some live songs. In order to get the 6 new songs and the live ones I spent by the way 22 euro for the vynil. and with 3 songs less. It also seems that the last studio song A side ends weird, at least in my vynil. <I will try again but it does not work properly. Hope John or Justin will semd me the remaining 3 live songs even I bought the vynil in Berlin and noy from the shop this time.

I can agree with what you are saying but I suppose at the end of the day, the new NMA live album is going to sound exactly the way NMA want it to sound.

I reckon it was probably their managers idea to er.. "keep the momentum going". Surprised it hasn't really been commented on - but you can tell the difference in profile the band have had since he took over. Tommy Tee was very much from the tour management side of things - whereas the new guy is from the biz/press side of things. Its not coincidence that the band is suddenly in mags, on the radio etc

I already wrote in the forum what I think of the live songs. Do do not know why but for some reasons I welcomed these new 6 songs with much less axcitement than previous new material.
