I just don't see the big deal. It's another day that just happens to be the anniversary of your birth.
It also feels weird when people recognize it. I did not save a village of children from a charging bull or anything. I was just born.
Also they remind me of my failures and i tend to compare myself to my more successful peers. Plus remind me of just how lacking I am in the social department. While extroverted, outgoing, happy people have many people to celebrate, More shy, withdrawn,introverted people are made to feel like social failures. It's just another year of feeling lonely.
In conclusion Birthdays are just there to remind one of their failures and shortcomings therefore depressing.
Does anyone feel the same? or am I just a miserable human being? Sorry for yet another venting sort of rant.

I think birthdays matter a lot less when you get older.
Was never one for parties anyway.
No point beating yourself up that your a year older.
I personal like to reflect on the previous year and the good things that happened. Any negative's are a lesson learned and something you try not to repeat.
Having lots of friends and being socially acceptable are over rated imo better to have one or two special people.

As someone with very little family, friends drifting away all the time, massively unsuccessful in my working life, even worse in my romantic life, and pretty much every dream I ever had never coming true... I ******* hate my birthday. I sweep it under the carpet... there are folks who have known me for decades who have no idea of when my birthday is. It's just one year closer to 'running down the curtain and joining the bleedin' choir invisible'.... :-[

I suppose it depends on who's birthday it is. No interest what so ever in my own birthdays, and find it a bit embarrassing if other people make a fuss about it. If it is one of my Sons birthdays, I reserve the right to be the one making the fuss. Its just what parents like to do.

Everyone deserves to feel a bit special sometimes - even just for a bit of one day a year.

Just another day.
If people want to fuss over it, I'm not bothered.
My kids birthdays ?
Nothing over the top. I'll get them stuff if they want it. Some things they don't.
No big deals.

That made me feel better.
I posted this simply because it was actually my birthday and i basically sat in my home alone so posted that sad,pathetic post. Another emotion fueled post.
