Which one is your favourite song among the 6 new ones?
My favourite is "Devil's bargain", haunting tune, nice aural landscape and epic feel...moody track...i like the "bridge" at the end and the line "There's a dusty photograph i will always recall"...the fall at the end, remains of "Knievel" and "Falling"? ;)
Then:
2/ "Happy to be here"...again, moody, meditative song.
3/ "According to you"/"Guessing": catchy, effective songs.
4/ "Sunrise": i must say that the cool, optimistic feel of this song, a la "wipe out" has a bit grown on me...a slow burner?
5/ "Angry planet": not bad but a somewhat generic feel IMO, NMA has done better "kick ass" songs i think ("Here comes the war"?)

1 Angry planet love this song definitely one of best songs they have while. It kinda sums up the mood of things at the moment, where as songs such as vengeance, here comes the war, today is a good day summed up the mood when they were written in the same kick ass style. IMO this is a better written song than here comes the war ( ducks for cover)
2 Sunrise Found this a instantly likable song. Very catchy a sing along too / dance too song that finishes the lp nicely leaving you feeling on a high.
3 According to you / Guessing the bread for the Angry planet filled sandwich lol
4 Devils Bargain / Happy to be here Its a list and I had to put them somewhere
A brilliant mini album if this had another 6 or 7 songs of equal quantity it would be one of their best. Then again it has the excellent live album to back it up. Its very difficult to split the 2 discs/records.
There's a Army Coming !

Happy to be Here. Angry Planet seems to be the popular favourite. Though I like it,it's probably the one I like least. I am not the biggest rock fan and it seems to be close to that.
-
The more i listen to "Between wine and blood" the more i realize that it's a very accomplished little album.
Some of the tracks here SHOULD have been included on "between dog and wolf"!!
"Devil's bargain"...i listen to it endlessly...haunting trip, this song.

Choosing a best song feels like damning the others with faint praise - but it's not.
Angry Planet
Now I'm off for one last blast before the neighbours get the hump ;D

Happy to be here

For me there are 2 groups of songs, one great, one good but a little less spectacular.
1st group: Angry Planet, Happy to be here, Devils Bargain. Very different songs, but exactly the variety that I like about NMA's best stuff. For me that's always been the secret of NMA: the combination of beauty and aggressiveness (and, in the lyrics, of the personal and the political).
2nd group: Sunrise, Guessing, According to you: Good songs, but a little more the classic rock type.

For me, Guessing
Simply can't stop playing it ever since the band soundclouded it
It's a quintessential NMA song for me, compelling and very much of the genre, whatever that is with the band, and btw long may that remain so
Angry Planet is a bit good too, perfect pit song, as is Sunrise, great sing along track
As ever with NMA its all good
-
Completely agree
The pace, sounds, attitude of Guessing is a definitive NMA sound

Guessing is my favourite, too, although it's pretty hard to pick. It grabbed me from the first listen. I love the line "waiting for the devil that I know and the devil that I don't"!!

Difficult one this - like choosing any favourite NMA song! At the moment for me it must be Angry Planet. It's such a superbly atmospheric song which really captures the feel of the times.
When it was hammering it down with rain the other night and I couldn't sleep I couldn't help think of:
"And the pressure moves the mountains, seven billion and counting
As the monkey tribes advance across the bleak terrain
All sown with seed of mono-culture, wind and rain and revolution coming,
But we know it isn't personal - we just live on an angry planet
There's not a word in the song that isn't perfectly chosen and resonant. For a band whose lyrics have been consistently excellent throughout I think the lyrics stand out - they're astoundingly good.

Devil's Bargain ..... deepth .....
-
Th Happy to be here. The best I heard live is Guessing.
-
Right now Sunrise gets me to hit replay button as my Favorite. 8)

I too would say Sunrise at this point in time. though it's difficult to say, I like Devil's Bargain and Guessing probably about as much...

Angry Planet and this promo is pretty damn good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IDH1MhktKQ

Devil's Bargain...but the whole package is brilliant from start to finish.
-
Devil's Bargain is just excellent. Looking forward to hearing it live tonight in Nottingham.
This album is a lot closer to what Dog & Wolf should have been (imo).
-
For me, BWAB is like an extension to BDAW. On the whole, all tracks are very consistent.
I particularly love Guessing and Angry Planet, because these tracks are so in line with the typical energy of the band.

Happy to be here caught my attention at first followed by devils bargain which sends chills down my spine. A great album overall. Why didn't they just add more songs and make it a full album?
