Title: Your Top 10 albums...
Post by: Master Ray on October 17, 2014, 08:15:21 PM
I seem to have been sucked into a FB debate about your fave albums ever, so I thought I'd drag you lot into it...  ;)

Your fave 10 albums ever at this moment in time.  To keep things interesting, you're only allowed one album per artist (otherwise I'm sure half the list would be NMA stuff for most of us...) and they don't have to be in a favourite order...

And, yes, I'm sure we'll post our lists and then think 'shit, I should have put THIS, THAT or THE OTHER on my list'...  ;D

OK, mine, right now..?

NMA - Impurity
The Cure - Disintegration
Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle
Prince - Sign 'O' The Times
The Housemartins - Now That's What I Call Quite Good
Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine - 30Something
Inspiral Carpets - The Beast Inside
David Bowie - Aladdin Sane
Alkaline Trio - From Here To Infirmity
Lacuna Coil - Unleashed Memories

Joy Division - Closer
Psychedelic Furs - Mirror moves
Natalie Merchant - Tigerlily
Talk Talk - The colour of spring
Supertramp - Crime of the century

Ok, so it's 11 but I couldn't be bothered to pick one ;D

It would be a limited list if I included NMA so without them and not necessarily in order -

The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta
George Frederic Handel - Messiah
Spear of Destiny - One Eyed Jacks
Ghostdance - Gathering Dust
Metallica - Black Album
The Waterboys - This is the Sea
Fields of the Nephilim - Revelations
U2 - Unforgettable Fire
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Gary Marx - 1995 and Nowhere

Bah - I could have put a list of 20 together. Ive tried to narrow it down to those that spend the most time in the Cars CD changer ..

Without NMA:

Alice Cooper. - Brutal Planet
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Mark Knopfler - Get Lucky
Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
Johnny Cash - Man Comes Around
Bruce Springsteen - Devils And Dust
The Clash - Combat Rock
Florence and the Machine - Lungs
Steve Earle - Copperhead Road
The Kinks - Phobia

In no particular order but those are albums I come back to time an time again. Interestingly, the Kinks album Phobia is their last to date and was almost universally panned by critics, but I think it is one of their finest!

BUMP AGAIN!

Seeing as the Forum is so quiet these days... I'm gonna post a brand new Top ten albums list, which will doubtlessly be massively different to the two other posts I made... what can I say, I love so much diverse music that my opinion could change daily!  Also, I'll stick to the 'one album per band' thing, otherwise NMA would probably take at least six of these positions...

So again, off the top of my head...

NMA - Impurity
The Who - Quadrophenia
Pulp - This Is Hardcore
The Cure - Disintegration
Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel Of Love
Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists
Skunk Anansie - Black Traffic
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Inspiral Carpets - The Beast Inside
The Housemartins - Now That's What I Call Quite Good

You?   ???

The 'one album per band' thing is only a guideline that I impose on myself, interested contributors, post what the heck you like!   ;)

It's just a bit of fun.

Yes it's a superb album, their best (i also like very much the debut live album and NOTHING'S SHOCKING)..."Three days" and "Then she did" are incredible songs.  Funny when you write "I'm 19 years old again" because almost all of the 10 albums I chose - except Justin's first solo album,  The Sound and Meg Myers - are albums I found in the early/mid 90s, when I was a teenager!
