I'm old enough to remember when a Saturday club night at RC was a great alternative / rock night... I heard that nowadays it's just trendy shit aimed at the smart-shirt / trendy crowd (please correct me if I'm wrong...)

A curry?  Pah, get a dirtyburger from the van that (I hope) is still outside RC and get thee to the aftershow party!

 ;D   ;)

Last year's gig a had travel from Coventry to Derby on the Thursday to go to a meeting. Then on Friday, I had another meeting in Nottingham with the council, same bloody motorways. On Saturday i drove from Coventry yet again for the 3rd time to Nottingham for the gig (I was fed up of the journey by then). Got absolutely hammered, had a great night and stumbled back to the hotel to wake up to the fact i had lost my jacket/keys/wallet and phone. Ended up driving home from the hotel with only my car key and very little petrol and i didn't even have a mobile. Got back to Coventry and my fiance who was seething because she had been called (from my own mobile) 7 times at 2am by Spankys trying to report all my lost kit.

Back to Nottingham i go to collect it all.

Thursday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday i drove up the effing M69 and M1.

Nightmare.

Yes i got the same email from alt tickets. Gotta agree that 18.45 for the first set is ridiculous early, ok i understand the need to have club nights after the gigs, maybe the place wouldn't be open otherwise. On rays point there doesn't seem to large alternative scene among younger people these days. I think personally that the music scene is crying out for another really good big rock band something like nirvana etc.

Agree, Pol, venues gotta get the cash otherwise they don't stay open... but is rock truly dead?  Seems, to me, that there are a lot of young folks walking around in 'rock' clothing and they need somewhere to go where they won't be hassled by trendy knobheads... also seems like bands like Royal Blood are keeping the flag flying...

But you're right, the time is right for a true break-out band to take the world by storm...   :)

My pities also. Lucky being local I have a late lye in  :) It's going to be a long day. Last year, didn't leave Spanky's  till 1.am, and it was still going strong when I left.
