So just who were the guest musicians? for those of us who missed out.
I know Ed, obviously but who else?
Also what Kinks song was covered? As i read about that in a review.
-
The Kinks song was Til the end of the day. Adam Ant's drummer, Andy, made an appearance which I thought was a nice touch. The two other musicians, a cello player and violinist, I don't know but fair play to them, they got involved with the music, dancing along.
I thought at one point how difficult it must be to play in an established band as a guest musician, where I guess the majority of the crowd don't know you. I think they deserve a lot of respect for helping make the night and giving their all.

Also at the Forum, Mark Feltham was guesting on harmonica too. Marshall took the harmonica reigns at Rock City ;)
Justin introduced the violinist and cellist at Rock City but I can't remember the names ::)

Wow. I completely missed that bit :o

The cellist is Tobias Underberg, a german musician who worked on several albums for NMA.
This video shows him with Ed performing the outstanding intro for 'Vagabonds' at last years gig in Cologne.

Of course to the NMA community, Ed Alleyne Johnson and Mark Feltham need no introductions. On extra drums and percussion was Andy Woodard, who we first met when he played as a stand-in for Michael Dean on the UK tour in April. On cello is Tobias Unterberg. Justin first met him years ago when he produced the crazy East Berlin outfit, the Inchtabokatables and he has long been a good friend of all of us. He has appeared on many NMA recordings - notably Wonderful Way To Go, Trees in Winter, Too Close to The Sun, March In September and most recently Angry Planet. Shir Ran Yinon on violin/viola is from Germany/Israel and works often with Tobias. They are currently together in the Ensemble Melancholia. While Mark and Ed are only able to do the UK shows, another surprise special guest will join us for the three shows in mainland Europe.

Well I think it goes without saying from me and probably everyone else who saw nottingham, everyone on that stage made something very special. Thank you all.

Says everything that needs saying - hope they enjoyed it as much as we did ;D (still!)

It sounds like it was a wonderful two nights. I just noticed youtube videos of most of it. As much as I hate gig filming, I am excited to watch it. Glad everyone enjoyed it. Thanks New Model Army for a very informative response.

Here's some more info on Tobias and Shir Ran's usual outfit, with a nice pic of them with the band...
