Title: E cigarettes
Post by: Pol on January 11, 2015, 04:22:36 PM
Ok i know there was a previous post about this but i couldn't find it ( look harder pol ya fanny i hear you say lol) Anyway i looking for advice on e cigs and related products or any other comments in general.
I have started using one since just before Xmas think i fcked my chest in Nottingham, its just a fairly cheap bog standard type Its uses liquid i prefer tobacco flavoured as i smoked roll ups. I've not had a cigarette or roll up since the 2nd/3rd January there has been a tough moments along the way. I'm also medium strength liquid (1.8mg). Basically i would like to find a e cig with a bit more kick to it that delivers time after time im happy enough with the strength of the liquid

After sum internet research reading reviews etc today i decided to purchase a innokin itaste mvp 2.0 it has variable voltage / wattage so you can set it to give you the 'hit' that you want, i even got the one with the camouflage 'skin' so it looks pretty cool as well. My first impressions are its excellent and definitely what I'm being looking for yes its a bit chunky and i can see thinking wtf when I'm using it, but its not a fashion statement
Thanks for any advice especially shush and Anna

Sounds good Pol, please let me know how you get on with it. I am still using the cigarette style ones. They have disposable filter sections which have the liquid. I re-fill them myself with basic bottles of E-liquid, but the filters are pricy to start with, and after you have re-filled them a few times, they go a bit manky. I am looking to move onto a "tank" system as they call them.

Just as a note, JS stopped smoking three years ago, and has been on vapour ever since. Says he feels a lot better for it. Anyone can make the switch, its never too late. Now it has really taken off, there looks to be ever better systems out there.

I will do shush i will report back in a couple of weeks should give me time to make a fair assessment. Another thing i like about this system is that you don't have to replace the whole tank every few weeks you just replace the coil part at the bottom so that works out a bit cheaper in the long run. I would definitely recommend the liquid types with the tank though I've not tried the other ones

Tank systems def the way to go. Broke my 30 year addiction. Vari-voltage seem better. Avoiding the tobacco flavour helped me. As for the cost, nowhere near the money I used to spend on fags.

i would love to take this up and stop having my nicotine hit from breathing in the smoke from burnt plants

but i actually have no idea where to start. thats the problem. where does one begin. i'm not capable of figuring it out. i need to buy a basic model, tyr it, and then take it from there. help!!!!

My advice go to your local retailer buy yourself a cheap basic starter kit. I would go for the liquid filled type. See how you feel then if like it check out the reviews on the net n work out what suits you best n upgrade to that or ask other e smokers for advice. I started smoking when i was in secondary school so over 30years i was smoking about 12.5g of rolling tobacco every day I've not had a roll up for over two weeks and i already feel better. I was spending about £30 on tobacco now im spending about £6-7 a week on liquid so the starting costs are already paid for
Title: Re: E cigarettes
Post by: Heno on January 17, 2015, 07:13:29 PM
cool thanks man

i started smoking as soon as i tried it. nicotine actually levels me out somewhat. but i don't smoke a hole lot. just when i need them. like 5 or 6 rollies a day

couldn't touch a normal ciggy now. before now, marlboro lights were the thing. as soon as i smoked them i could smoke anything else. and before that john player black. still crave them

in a sense once i find something new i move on. so i'll have to make sure i give the best chance. i'll go to a shop and ask them, see what they say.

Yeah as Pol said get your bum down to the nearest stockist and see what they say. There are a lot of these things around now and not all of them are good. First one I tried with didn't do the job, the smoke was too thin and feeble. The one I've got now a Totally Wicked Ego-C Slimline gives a really good thick smoke you can even blow smoke rings with (makes me look like Smaug  : Mind you he came to a sticky end through an arrow didn't he? Beware the Archer   ;) ) mine is a girly one but they do a good range of chunky blokey looking ones.

Stop making excuses Heno, you're clever enough to be some sort of international corporate business mogul (it's ok I won't tell anyone you're an undercover agent of the Revolution subverting from the inside - ask Master Ray I told him that unlike Shush I can keep a secret..........Oops  ;D ) so you're clever enough to work this out. You're prevaricating yer great nicotine junkie  :-*

Although I have been E-ciging for three years, I still don't know much about them. I have stuck to the same imitation fag-like product all this time.

The ultimate expert I know is Ian (on here ninja12r)

At Rock city he had what I can only describe as an E-cig bong. It was a large brass cylinder  with button on the bottom and large mouth piece the other end. If you were at Notts, and saw someone disappear in a cloud of smoke every now and again in the pit, that was Ian.

Nice article - cheers Johnz

Certainly makes an awful lot of sense to me. That idea of Disconnectedness feels bang on.

A very interesting read Johnz , one thing i still don't get how can people grow up in the same family n all the brothers and sisters go on to lead normal addiction free lives yet one of the family can be led down the wrong path.

Dunno the answer but I wonder if some of the Disconnectedness is from our individual internal genetic make up rather than just external environment/pressures?

Hey Shush - not tried Apple. I go for Blueberry most of the time (when I've not fallen off the wagon  :( )

Sorry about the lack of posts been busy
Anyway very much enjoying my new e cig, I've still not had a analog cig in 5 weeks don't think i will ever go back to them. Replaced the coil for the first time on my cig ( 5 for £8) they need replaced every couple of weeks. I personally stick to the tobacco flavours ( tobacco gv b&h l&b) and use medium strength 1.8mg.
Any smokers on the forum i would encourage to try it
Title: Re: E cigarettes

Pol, on your machine thing, is that more or less all the maintenance you have to do ? refill with your liquid, and change the coil every now and again ? How do you know when to replace the coil ?

Tobacco flavours are OK, but to me they do not really taste like the brands they say they are like. Some of the fruit flavours are OK. Some flavours I try once and then make a dash to the bin for the pleasure of throwing the bottle away fast. The apple flavour I am on at the moment is quite nice, works well.  Have to confess, I use 2.4 strength liquid and always have, but that maybe because two years ago, it was hard to find any system that didn't seem like sucking fresh air.

How do you know when to replace the coil ?

With mine the smoke starts to taste burnt and yes that's all the maintenance it seems to need
Title: Re: E cigarettes
Post by: Shush on February 02, 2015, 10:37:42 PM
Ta. I suppose that's similar to the disposable filter shaped part I use on the cigarette shaped thing I use. You cannot see when it is empty, it probably starts to burn the wool inside when the liquid dries up.
Title: Re: E cigarettes
Post by: Pol on February 02, 2015, 10:50:49 PM
Yes that's all the maintenance i need to do I find that when i cant get a good drag out of it then its time to change the coil, have read that is you gently wash it in hot water and dry carefully it will last a bit longer. To be fair I've not tried any of the favours and would agree that the tobacco ones don't really taste like cigs On Anna's burnt issue maybe you have the power up to much

Where do you guys in England buy supplies, like new coils, if I may ask? In Sweden I've seen the stuff only online, but will be in England next weekend and would love to visit a shop, if possible :-)

Flavourwise I am a big fan of lemon, and blueberry. Has someone ever tried fried chicken or bacon???

Out of all the flavours I've tried - BlackJack is my favourite.
The only trouble is it's very Moorish.

I buy my coils online There is more and more specialized shops opening up Again depends where your visiting try looking online for shop locations Plenty of shops doing liquids etc but if your looking for that certain individual part it could get alot more difficult

Thanks Pol :) will be looking online then.

I´d only rather see the stuff in real, am still new to the vaping business and basically have no clue if the coils would fit.

For instance, the coil of my vuze ecig makes vape with the silver cig battery, but not the other way around. And, there are so many different kinds out there. It´s a wee bit overwhelming  ;)

Update Still not had a analogue cig after 8 weeks n don't want one. I very rarely miss them sometimes you want to sit and relax with one though.
Still sticking to the tobacco flavour liquids. Currently liking Marlboro, Lambert and butler and b&h as well as the trusty plain tobacco flavour. Usually have the ibreath brand but noticed cheaper types 10x10ml for £20 and still 1.8mg strength

Well done mate. Been puffing my puffer for two years and very very very rarely think of a fag. Poundland do liquids now. Only a tobacco and cherry one but the cherry is the best Ive tasted. I tend to vary from tobacco for a few months then back to fruit. Best thing ever invented imho.

I started on a smoke max cig just the 600 version I definitely prefer my innokin mvp2 with its 2600 battery I smoked roll ups as well probably about 25g of tobacco every two days or so. At first i used to smoke roll ups as well but packed them in after a week, now its liquids all the way I'm starting to realize how much cigs stink you can smell a smoker a good few yards away. You should try and make a determined effort to stick to the liquids
Just tried the cherry flavour from Poundland n wow I'm impressed decent taste n plenty of smoke, still to test the tobacco one definitely worth a try at a quid

I think if you shop around you can get one for about £35 , i paid £40 for mine out a shop with a 10ml liquid Only used the smoke max for a few weeks I think you need to change the full tank bit  ?? Would say every two weeks but depends on usage etc

Ok time for a wee update  !
Still not had a cig since early January and don't want 1 either, its doesn't even bother me when others are smoking near me. Definitely feeling a lot better health wise and wallet wise also. Feeling a bit of square since i hardly ever drink don't do drugs and now don't smoke.
I decided to upgrade to the itaste mvp3 and have my mvp v2 as back up. I'm currently using a protank 3 and liking that, going try the air control valve on it n see, currently using 1.8 ohm coils think they give you a bit of warmer hit n more throat than 2.0 ohm or higher ones. I tried the subtank nano but didn't like it.
Still not totally settled on the right liquid for me though i think that the tobacco flavours are right for me.

I'm really surprised by how easy things have been after smoking for over 30 years, i thought that ecigs weren't for me and i really enjoyed my cigs but I guess i was wrong. I've also managed to encourage a couple of other people to stop as well

Thought it was time for a wee update. Still very much still enjoying my ecig, i can honestly say i would smoke a normal cigarette again its doesn't even bother me when someone is smoking next to me. Just added a air control valve to my protank effectively making it a aerotank. I would definitely recommend one, gives out huge clouds of vapor.

I new study suggests that there is a better chance of getting cancer with E cigarettes than regular. The vapor may be easier on your throat but it still doesn't make it any less of a hazard to your health.
I am actually very concerned about people doing it for their health. It's not healthy nor is it natural. . Smoking weed is even healthier.

Most of these studies are funded and put out by tobacco companies into trying scare people. Think about it they are losing tens of millions, also governments are losing millions in tax revenue so it makes sense to frighten people. As for smoking cannabis its definitely not good for you especially if your mixing it with tobacco and smoking it unfiltered even if your not its probably going to cause you mental problems in the long run and i smoked it for 25 years so i can be unbiased

So many scare stories about e-cigs, mainly due to the government losing millions and millions in taxation... I keep reading that they sometimes explode...  ::)

Personally, I no longer use my e-cig, but I sometimes smoke.  A failure?  Not at all.  I can go for days and days without inhaling anything.  But when I have a night out (which doesn't happen very often nowadays), I do like a few ciggies.  it isn't an addiction anymore, just something I do for pleasure on special occasions.  Put it like this, I used to be a 20-a-day fella to a 40-a-month kind of guy, if that.  And I can live with those numbers.

Did I completely give up smoking?  No.  But the e-cigs got me out of a very expensive habit, so bloody love 'em.
Title: Re: E cigarettes
Post by: Amandistan on May 09, 2015, 07:58:17 PM
I never though of that but tobacco company's are caught lying to boost their sales all of the time. It sounded weird that a vapor cig would be as bad as a a regular.
Title: Re: E cigarettes
Post by: Shush on May 09, 2015, 10:26:55 PM
At the end of the day, the worst thing about smoking is the Tar it leaves in your lungs. It stays there a long time, and cancers can be caused by it. If you stop smoking depending on how much you smoked and for how long, you body will wash it away from your lungs, it will take up to 18 years, after that, it is like you never smoked at all. So, giving up in your 40's and 50's is still worth it. E-fags may still have other chemicals, but as there is no smoke involved, there is no Tar. Stop smoking, if you still crave nicotine, take up E-fags.

Started using a aspire nautilus tank, I liked my kanger protank but was getting pissed off with the coils only lasting a couple of days so decided to give the aspire a try. I have even tried a few flavours of late currently vaping a coffee flavour and I've got cola cubes, pear and sour sweet to try.
Still not had a cigarette since the start of January

Got a new tank today from the supplier I use in Wales. Have been using the imitation cigarette type for 3 years now. I buy e-liquid and refill them myself which can be touch and go. Tried a tank in the past but didn't do very well with it, kept getting a burnt plastic taste. This one looks to be a better design and well made. Got cream coffee liquid with it which is very nice. Battery is a bit big, makes the thing 7 inch long. I am not used to having something like that in my pocket !!

Glad your happy with your tank shush, I've got two that are top filling and really easy to fill, I don't know what kind it is or what kinda coils it takes, they normally take a fill or two to break in and always best to give new coils a few drops of liquid before you use them.

Was thinking about a update on this thread, will leave out the article 20 stuff.
I now have 4 box mods from a 150 watt temperature control that takes two 18650 batteries down to a 30 watt variable voltage/wattage. My biggest bad ass tank is tfv4 and the smallest being a protank 3. I guess that makes me a pretty serious vaper. I like to think of them as my toys all I got from cigs was a bin full of butts n ash and the rest of the bad stuff that goes with it. I've started making my own liquids though I still buy some in 100ml bottles via the Internet.
Not smoked a cig in 11 months and hate the smell of them now, tried some tobacco flavour e liquid which I started off on a few weeks ago and found it disgusting.
Won't ever smoke a normal cig again n if the shit hits the fan in a few weeks with article 20 my aim is the stock up n cut down my nicotine strength till I can stop. I'm currently using 1.0/1.2mg nicotine strength I started off at 1.8.
Liquid flavours I like custard, irn bru  and fruity ones especially if they have a sweet and sour kick

For someone who has been vaping for 3 years, I should know what you two are talking about, but I don't.  ???. Pol, you will have to show me some of your gadgets in Notts. I will introduce to Ian (Ninja12r on here) if you do not already know him. He is a big vaper, at Notts last  year he had something the size of a Coke can he had made up. Blimey, yes that is quite a cloud. For now I will stick with my new tank. Maybe look into something like that later. my tank gives a good vape. Really cheap also, £21 with charger and a bottle of juice. But overall, i must get away from the cigarette style vapers with disposable filter type containers. They are actually expensive, a pack of five refills is around a tenner and its easy to get through more than one refill a day. No point in a vape looking like a ciggy either,  its not smoking !!

Remember Ian telling me something about his device having three coils, but I did not know what he meant. So imagine three coils is like three burners working together evaporating your liquid ?
Title: Re: E cigarettes
Post by: Pol on December 02, 2015, 05:01:02 PM
Yes basically three coils or tri coils are put together to heat and therefore vaporize rapidly, the tfv4 comes with tri coils and quad coils and you can even get sextuplet (6) coils for it . You do need a device capable of powering them though, if I'm using the tri coils I'm vaping about 80watts to put this into context when I'm using my nautilus I'm vaping at 14/15 watts. If your thinking about buying anything its always worth checking out as many youtube reviews as possible, personally I like indoorsmokers though there are a few good reviewers

Made up 150ml of juice today, 60ml of custard, 30ml of strawberry, 30ml mixed fruit and 30ml blackberry, should keep me going for a while, will start using it in a couple of weeks

The custard flavour is going down a treat, thanks Pol ;)
My regular supplier stocks it so will add some next time I order.

Got a uwell crown tank today, got to say so far its definitely looking like my favourite tank so far. Awesome flavour and good vapour production. Using the ni 200 temperature control coil just now at 550F. If your looking to treat yourself for Xmas with a tank then I'm recommending this one. It also comes with the normal power coils ie wattage/volts but in stainless steel instead you probably need a mod with about 50w to power these

Today I celebrate one year free from cigarettes, I know e cigs aren't the full answer and I'm still using nicotine but its been proven that tar, benzene and arsenic and far more dangerous and only recently found out that cigarettes contain a anti depressant or at least a chemical that acts like one.
I honestly feel a lot better especially my chest and breathing, plus and can now taste and smell a lot better and my clothes and house don't smell like a ashtray.
Financially I've probably saved over £1000 even taking into account everything I spent on box mods, tanks , coils and liquids.
Can't believe that the European Parliament are trying to more or less ban them ( only making really poor and expensive disposable types available) as well as almost destroying the flavoured liquids market. To them - give people a chance to stop smoking, nearly 50% who have tried e cigs have and the latest evidence says there 95% safer than cigarettes.
My opinion leave box mods and tanks alone put a small tax on liquids reducing accordingly with nicotine strength, use some of the money to make sure that liquids market is safe as possible with regular inspections etc.

Nice one drummyb just ordered a few more concentrates myself. I've also joined a vape/ e cig forum that has given me a few tips and general help.
Would say mix your concentrates about 20%. Try juice cabin and vapours r is for your concentrates, ebay and amazon are good for the other stuff

Got mine from makemyvape. It has a calculator on the site for errrr calculating lol. From this first batch its likely to be flavours that will need replacing soonest.Made 50ml and its pretty muched wiped out two bottles. Think I may get another 20ml from them. Liquid seems a lot thicker than store bought.

I will check them out. If you make a high vg ratio it will turn out thicker, you probably need a bit more flavouring for that but you can vape it a higher wattage and it produces a lot more clouds. I go for a 70% vg ratio, I'm starting to use a 3mg strength nicotine.
I have a e liquid calculator app on my phone, think its the simple e liquid calculator

Probably a similar thing. Just made second batch with higher pg and added a few drops of distilled water. Trial and error!

Excellent post.

For me, just pissed off that my e-cig battery that I was using has gone dead and I can't find the bloody charger!

Sometimes I think I want to take them up because they have good flavors and smoking them makes you look cool.  :)

First time I have heard of vaping referred to as "looking cool"  :o -- but you shouldn't pretend to smoke just to look cool !!

that said, you can get nicotine free e-liquids

I honestly do like the flavors that I tried. They have chocolate!
I have smoked the cherry flavored cigars in the past. I am sure they have nicotine but I got no addiction.
The nicotine free are a great idea. As people can inhale  chocolate vapor with no chance of addiction.

Well done Pol. Wouldnt have a clue with coils. Got 20ml of strawberry shortcake steeping at the mo. Gonna stick to smaller amounts as I seem to have been on vanilla custard and citrus forever!!!!

To be fair I bought the coils already made,  but had to intall them myself,  that includes adjusting them to make sure there heating properly and cut and installing organic cotton wicks,  it doesnt have a tank,  you just drip the liquid onto the coils and wicks thence the name. Not that hard to make your own but you can buy 50 pre made on ebay for a few quid.
Im currently steeping apple caramel cheesecake,   made some raspberry ruffle but didn't really like it

after saying in another thread that i gave up a 33 year smoking addiction for vaping i was asked to post here with my "particulars" but i'm afraid they're not going to be any big revelation. i vape to satisfy my nicotine addiction so i use bog-standard marlboro flavour liquid with a high nicotine content. 2 for a fiver. i use a lite-joy £9.99 ecig and use the £3 disposable tanks cuz theyre a lot cheaper than the coil ones when you consider how easily they break and empty the  liquid into your pocket/bag. anything bigger would be -for me- an unnecesary penis extension and at 5 or 6 times the price i may as well smoke crack as vape. i smoked roll-ups mostly when i did smoke and vaping doesnt need to be more complicated than the thing its replacing in my book. and the liquid lasts FOREVER so as long as i'm not clumsy and dont break/lose my cig too often the habit is practically free.

Interesting post eastmidz , as long as your happy and getting what you need. I have to add I've never broke a tank yet (touch wood) and most of the newer ones come with a spare glass, my coils cost £1.50-£2.50 depending, normally buy 100-120ml bottles for £15-£25 inc p&p , will admit I can vape up to 10ml some days but I do have my diy stuff also
