Title: Strange brotherhood
Post by: Pazza on January 24, 2015, 08:09:57 AM
I just wanted to say thanks to the strange brother and sisterhood of comrades still sticking with this message board.

All of the following who have handed over control of their personal info to Inyerfacebook said it was dead or dying two years ago and yet here some of us still are, doing what I believe, anyway, a bunch of obsessed music maniacs should be doing, and debating our perceived meaning of the band.

Long may it continue in all it's eclectic glory!

Couldn't agree more.  Yes, I am on the dreaded FB, but I do that to keep in touch with my 'normal' friends... lovely as they are, they're mostly not NMA types...

Here is a place I go to when I want to connect with folks of a similar mindset, a face I don't present to the general public... the 'real me'...

Oh, that's a cue for a song!

I thought that was a cue for a side door entry into the 'song with most personal meaning for me' thread..

Made me smile tho Master Ray

I have my real name listed on FB and today I am questioned if that is my real name. Yes, I have an unusual last name but what right do they have to question that?
Plus this forum is calmer than FB. I have trouble with impulsive talking and fb is the worst place for that. Here, you are forced to think and often can delete before it is read. It's mostly relaxed.

I thought this was going to be about the album for a minute.  :)

Im not on Fakebook but I also have an uncommonlast name.. But screw em!!

Well as unpleasant as the last weeks has been, at least everyone is reflecting on it I guess.. If you assemble any group of passionate people there will be fall outs.. Its fixing the fall out from the fall out that is key.

Ill also doff me cap to Viv as well.. Any number of people could have been banned but he's sat and watched and waited and then acted..... (either that or something was on telly ha ha).

Put it behind us.. Listen to a great band.

I suppose you could say this....

"Now it's gone, done, the feud is over
Funny how vendettas just turn into a bore
Gone, done, the feud is over
I really can't be bothered any more"

....at the risk of sounding corny!

I use many forms of social media, but they each have a purpose, and while I am part of 2 NMA groups on Facebook, the level of discussion here is completely different and I wouldn't leave it behind for anything!

Hi all,

It's not often that I post messages but I do log on here most days & have a read through the threads.  The forum & the main site is the place I come to for all things NMA.  Don't know what I would do without it.

Cheers,

Zen

I do stick my oar in from time to time!!  More often than not though I can be found lurking in the shadows looking on.  Well, until the injunction kicks in anyway!!!  Right, must get some work done.  That's what they pay me for I guess haha!!  Have fun.

Hi, I'm pretty new around here too - great to be here!

I don't mind being disagreed with but I'm mostly here for fan-boy worship, don't really enjoy arguing about music (well not all the time anyway). I have a wide range of musical tastes other than NMA so I'm pretty much up for anything! :D

I just left an NMA fb fan group.  I don't really feel like I fit. It goes from a good  discussion, then someone misinterprets something,  then it's an argument, it often gets nasty or personal, then people change subjests and ignore the fact that somebody was just verbally insulted. I keep rejoining,  then realising that this forum is where I belong. One of the fan groups on fb is complete anarchy. I have read some really nasty things. Then they have the like system crap. People here are very nice and understanding and hardly ever get into arguments. I have no filter and basically speak impulsively, I am trying to improve but get crucified on fb even after explaining. It is hard to create a filter that the majority of the world already has at birth. If I know that I hurt someone, I feel horrible and mentally punish myself very badly.  It also sucks when two hours later, you realize how stupid you sounded. Then you are ashamed and develop a social phobia.
I also type exactly how I speak.

And actually, friends I have made on NMA tours were most accepting and understanding.
