No doubt the answer will be in constant change for all of us. At this time I am playing the most often in this order,,
1 --Lost Songs
2-- B-sides
3-- High
4-- Eight.
-
Right now?
1 - TIAGD
2 - Carnival
3 - BWAB
4 - Impurity
Ask me again tomorrow... ;)
-
Just lately it's been the following:
BWAB (only the 6 new tracks)
Ghost of Cain
No Rest
Carnival
I did play BDAW to death though when I first got it :)
-
Christ yes, how did I forget BWAB from my list. Play that so much it doesn't stand out as an event anymore :D
-
I can't pinpoint which I play the most but it's probably a mixture of all the albums after Eight - they all still seem like newies to me!
-
Still BDAW followed by my I-pod playlist which is mainly made up of post SB-stuff. TIAGD, Carnival and NBTS would be my most played.
-
Between Wine and Blood (Studio)
Between Dog and Wolf
Thunder and Consolation
The Ghost of Cain
...then, the rest of them, with Eight, High and Impurity on slightly higher rotation.
That said, hardly a day goes by without at least one NMA album being played in my house/on my iPod.
-
love of hopeless causes
Impurity
Ghost of Cain
-
BWAB (studio)
LOHC
Impurity
Strange Brotherhood
High
Vengeance
T&C
Big Guitars
NBTS
Fck Texas
Nobody Else
Lost Songs
Not really in any kind of order, will probably change it now lol
-
Varies always
Currently
BWAB
BDAW
High
Carnival
-
My faves varies a bit but it's been something like this for quite long time:
Lost Songs
BDAW
Carnival
BWAB
Big Guitars
+Justin & Friends DVD
Anthology DVD (that one where's Another Imperial Day)
Fck Texas
Good choice. I love to listen it while driving. Especially Nothing Dies Easy and Into the Wind.
-
The ones i listened to endlessly since 1995 ;):
Of course "Thunder and consolation" then "the ghost of Cain"
For the last decade:
"Navigating by the stars"
"High"
"Eight"
Currently:
"Between wine and blood"
I never listen often "Carnival" and "Strange brotherhood", though... :-[
-
Eight
High
TIAGD
BDAW/ BWAB
I tend to gravitate more to the newer albums. like past 2000. I think it's the best era as opposed to being stuck in the 80's era of NMA.
-
T&C
Impurity
BDAW
HIGH
;) Ask me tomorrow, please.
-
BWAD studio tracks only
LOHC
Strange Brotherhood
Eight

Thought I'd BUMP this one, seeing as it's been a while and we were talking about which albums you are playing recently...
Right now, my number one (and this is a bit surprising), TLOHC... I've often said that it isn't one of my favourites but it's really striking a chord with me at the moment...
To round off my current top five at the 'mo...
2 - TIAGD
3 - TGOC
4 - BDAW
5 - BWAB
You..? :(
-
Bwad
High
Bwab live (xmas tour)
Lohc
Bdaw
-
As ever, my NMA library just becomes one big personaiised jukebox ;D
Must admit though that BWAB has to be mightily pissing off the neighbours by now.......................... ;) 8) :-*
-
TIAGD - I wasn't keen on it when it was first released but now I would rate it as highly as the earlier releases.
Eight - This was - still is - a slow burner for me, the more I have listened to it the more it has grown on me.
BWAB - Impurity is the last Album that was an instant classic for me, until this.
BWAB Live - Kicking myself for not going to the forum last December.
Plus Justins solo stuff, very under-rated imo (ok maybe not but outside the NMA family)
N.

BDAW
TIAGD
Carnival
High
I rarely play the classic albums anymore but got selected tracks on various playlists
-
Nowadays I'm listening mostly in car or at my working room

-
Aye its a crossbreed
-
1. Carnival\
2. Eight
3. Today Is A Good Day
4. High
5. And Nobody Else
-
While I don't play it the most, I never understood the hostility that a lot of people directed at Strange Brotherhood. Is there some terrible flaw in that album I've overlooked ?

I think that after a 5 year wait many people were a little underwhelmed. I like it and it has some of my favourite NMA tracks on it. But I don't think it sits together as an album very well. Many people have warmed to it over the years though.
-
For me it's probably (in no particular order):
Impurity
T&C
Ghost of Cain
Love Of Hopeless Causes.
-
In no particular order, for me it's these...
- Winter
- Between Wine And Blood
- Between Dog And Wolf
- Today Is A Good Day
- High
- Carnival
- Lost Songs
- Strange Brotherhood
I love all of the albums, but I seem to be extremely partial to all the newer material. They just seem to get better and better with each passing record. If only New Model Army could play double sets everytime they played live, because their gigs always, always, seem to go by in an instant... flash. :'(

Quite right too :)

I think I've mentioned this before (apologies if I'm repeating myself) but an interesting thing for me is that I'm very active on another bands forum and I've got quite a few people into NMA thanks to my recommendations, a few of them are now hardcore fans who are buying up (or at least listening to) anything they can get hold of.
Now, bear in mind that these are people who are newbies, they have no history like we do, they didn't go to a bunch of gigs when they were young'uns (like we did) and thus have no nostalgic imprints as to their favourite tunes that might relate to happier or more carefree times. They're just listening to the music with no preconceived notions. And, without any doubt, they are preferring the stuff over the last ten or so years. Winter appears to be the clear favourite, High a close second.
I'll say again that I think NMA are producing the best music of their career, even decades later... you can't say that of many bands of a similar vintage. :o
-
Steve i think you are the only person to mention No Rest, i listen to that all the time. :)
-
Right now it is probably between Eight and High but for some time it was a bootleg of NOATV for which I have the CD but havent listed to it yet (And no I am not a troll ;) )
-
Ghost of Cain
Thunder & Consolation
No Rest
-

It was the first album I bought. Much as I loved No Rest (track) the rest didn't grab me immediately. I then bought Ghost of Cain and it blew me away. Only then did I revisit No Rest.
-
I still listen to Winter a lot, not because it was their last album but because it really is a phenomenal record.
-
Over the thirty plus years that I have been following the band, the one album that gets the most play is "No Rest For The Wicked."
It's got a number of their greatest songs, it's the band's best lineup, the production is the best on any album, and the album showcased what the band was most about -- strident, powerful electric and acoustic music.
What year did this album come out? 1921? All those years ago and the band still haven't come close to matching its brilliance:

-
I have to say same as chunky
No Rest For The Wicked
Thunder and Consolation
Ghost of Cain
Impurity have it's moments also :)
-
Between Dog and Wolf is still the one I play the most. I just love that record. Winter gets a fair bit of play, too. Carnival is another favourite but I have to be in the mood for it. High and TIAGD have been a bit neglected lately. Time to dig them up again and give them a spin. I love all the classic 80s albums but I don't listen to them much anymore
-
Carnival, Lost Songs, Eight, Winter............My most played album by far though is Navigating By The Stars...
Yes i know it's not an NMA album..........just saying..
-
Lately I've been playing "Winter", "...& Nobody Else" (that I bought back), "Strange Brotherhood" and "Lost Songs".
-
Nice to see this thread back! As I said, my personal opinions can change from month to month, but right now, May 2019, it's...
Winter
Lost Songs
Between Wine And Blood
Eight
Impurity
-
Probably No Rest and Ghost of Cain
