Let's all admit it, the name New Model Army is just too long of a name to be successful. Looking at super bands that made it in the industry, you'll notice that two words is the absolute maximum. R.E.M., U2, The Cure, Foo Fighters (originally The Foo Fighters but changed because it was three words), Queen, Blur, Oasis, the list goes on and on and on. And where are Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians now? Right. There may be the odd exception (yes you, Red Hot Chili Peppers), but we can all agree that with a name like New Model, or The Army, the Super Bowl would have been within reach.
Now funny you bring up the Super Bowl. I did some research, and guess what: Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Madonna, The Who, all bands that had the opportunity to play at the world's most prestigious music festival during the last few years. Count the words. I say count them!
Point proven.

Yes, smarty pants, in 5 years! That is 1,6 per year!

So basically we're after a one letter named band that plays songs that last less than 2 notes?? Its a toughie!!!

That'll be "A", then. Remember them?!

Well, you have convinced me Bever.
No Supper-Bowl with a name like that for the NMA. :D
-
Irrefutable logic I would say. And an exception is always required to prove a rule. :)
-
Nice to realise The Who's been doing a gig in last five years. ;D
-
Lead singer with five syllables in his name also ! not good :o

Good call, sir!
Saw them live at some festival, somewhere, once... I'd totally forgotten them until you reminded me. And thy were quite successful once...

Sorry but these posts are getting ridiculous. I know it's mean as a joke about another member's post but could we just please either back off of him or ignore it. ::)
If he wants an argument, then isn't this just fueling it?
Can we please get to just talking about music. As all of these posts are ridiculous and really just prolonging a senseless argument. This is more pointless than saying that the songs are too long.
This reminds me of school when I was 11 years old.

is the joke on me? i would like to know

my confidence has been at an all time low. it would be nice to think i have at least NMA family
-
ignore it
That's what I do if I don't like a thread - ignore it and let others who do get on with it. Perhaps you should too.

Of course you do honey :-*

Ok. Im not one for arguing with anyone. I think personally things have moved on Amandistan. What I think youre reading is good ol British irony. I think things have calmed down a lot for the better IMHO. If theres one thing we do well, its depreciation especially self depreciation. Its in our psyche. I can get the joke here and its not childish. Just banter. Banter is healthy, abuse isnt. Well I hope so anyhoo.

Completely agree with that Drummyb. The latest posts by a certain individual no longer have any impact. he is a spent force and no longer has the ability to offend. Posts he puts up now which a few weeks ago would cause alarm can now only really be judged as comical, and we react accordingly. That said, I have not forgotten he has upset a friend of mine, doesn't care, and can not be bothered to apologise.

Those last 2 posts... completely agree. ;)

And I'm not even a Brit ;)

You may be descended ;D

not 2 long at all in my opinion............3 words......i mean.............that s it plus the history behind those 3 words................
-
Okay then. Sorry. I must confess that Americans don't do irony well. ;D

The Arctic Monkeys
Charlie XCX
Imagine Dragons
Public Service Broadcasting
The War On Drugs
...all big now, most in the album chart presently, all with same or more syllables. Even the band who occasionally sound exactly like NMA, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, have a bloody long name and they're doing alright.
-
Might I add "The War on Drugs" is brilliant. Completely different from NMA but non-the-less brilliant.
