Title: Eurovisions 2015
Post by: Rusco on February 28, 2015, 09:09:55 PM
I'm not normally into Eurovision contests. At times I've even hated it. But there are some things that I appreciate with the contest. In some views it's considered as some kind of minoritie's feast, a party that gives voice to them as well which is good though.

In early 2000's, there was a Kiss-type of a metal band called "Lordi" from Finland who won the contest. They had monster costumes, and whole of their show was a total contrary to what was seen as a "Eurovision standard" you know. I remember reading some articles where other nations asked do Finland really want to bring monsters to the show... It was kind of funny because we have always been the least-liked in the whole contest. (I admit every one of the earlier candidates before that were total crap.) So it became as a kind of a joke with us to send there whatever stuff and not to try to appeal the jury at all.

Well, now there's a new contest coming and a punk band called Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät won among the Finnish contesters. PKN is somewhat a different band in all manners if you compare them with the other Eurovision stuff. Brutal sounding bashing that 4 disabled guys do. They've won a place in our hearts and they'll go to the final contest later on.

Are there any fans of Eurovision?

Awful biased contest with political voting. I struggle to understand its longevity tbh but then Im not a fan of pop pap. But what do I know.

I know its cheesey and the voting is very political, but I quite enjoy watching it,but however I'm sure its the same night NMA play at Bearded Theory so its not likely this year.

Here's something new to it: Finns will continue the way of refreshing Eurovisions by sending there a raw punk band called the Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät. They will play a song Aina Mun Pitää (https://www.google.fi/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=Npr0VK6lCYfhapjPgpgP&url=http://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D1zcie_ykFqo&ved=0CB8QtwIwAQ&usg=AFQjCNHmJaQDpF5_XRSG5yheDDCbBTmb1A). The band's formed by four disabled guys.

But the winner of the German qualifying round refused to accept the title saying that he realised that the ESC wasn't for him.

It's a scandal, I tell ya. A SCANDAL!

Master Ray, the first live show I ever saw was Peter's and Lee. My parents took us when I was about 6. They were hugely famous at the time and I can remember them singing 'Welcome Home' in German. Can't remember why. We were on Holiday in I think Scarborough!
