Title: Belladrum Festival
Post by: Jimmy M on April 22, 2015, 04:23:40 PM

Why does this keep happening?  By the time they post the bands playing, these festivals sell out.
I don't get it, why do people buy festival tickets without knowing the lineup.

It's unfair really. This is new to me. In the states festivals don't sell out, they just sell more tickets.  I had never heard of a festival selling out. I had bought tickets for two big, popular festivals at the door. Does Europe have different saftey regulations regarding outdoor festivals?

Amanda, in the UK, the 'brand' is the name, not the bands playing.  Look at Glastonbury... hundreds of thousands of people try to buy tickets before a single name is announced, just rumours.  Other festivals sell tickets a year before the event itself.

Of course, many of those same tickets will wind up on those big 'mark-up' websites or Ebay within half an hour of being bought...

Manic Street Preachers were playing too. Even if it wasn't sold out, I couldn't. I am commited to helping Polish people perfect English.   :(

Well done, you. Again, the courage with which you are living your life right now... priceless.

Weekend tickets on sale at a certain online auction site £190 plus p&p

This was a really good line up and the tickets were cheap by festival standards. The other festival sold-out before announced on this site did not seem like my ideal line-up  but this was wonderful.

190 GBP?   In weaker currency terms  (Dollar or euro) that's a lot of money.     :o

Did anyone get along to this or know what the set was?

Yep, myself and Frazzle were there!
NMA headlined the 2nd stage that was somewhat out on a limb and on at the same time as the Manics.
Saying that, there was a good crowd in by the end of the hour long set and I'm sure the band made a lot of new friends.

Why would they put them at the same times as Manics? That would have ruined the festival for me if I would have gone.

Aha, I had a suspicion that they might be. Shame they weren't on the main 'Garden' stage, not only is it a lovely spot but they might have been filmed...hey ho.
Belladrum is a cracking festival, a very mixed crowd and line up, but with a vibe that reminds me a bit of Beautiful Days (without the pissed posh kids...lol). I really recomend it, although its a bit of a trek even if you already live in Scotland.
We went last year but were caught out when it sold out so fast (end of Feb if I remember right). We'll not make that mistake for next year!  :)

Good job you didn't go then! It would have been awful if the scheduling ruined it for you!
It was a shame though, as potential raft of new fans missed the opportunity of seeing NMA doing what they do best!

Unfortunately no cameras in the Hothouse Stage tent!

Plenty of pissed up kids though and I must say, I've never seen campsites full of so much crap! Cans, bottles, wet wipes take away wrappings as far as the eye could see!

Fun time was had though!

Only because I have never seen the Manics. However I know for a fact that they have new followers that are young and I guess hipster. They took away from NMA. Scheduling was stupid. Two headliners at one time? or were NMA or MSP not headliners?

Funny thing about the campsites. When we entered on the first day (this was last year mind) the crowd was peeling off in two different directions. Essentially the older folk headed left into the familly and quiet camping, and the younger folk headed right, into general. When we left the family/quiet was really quite clean and tidy, especially compared to other festivals I've been to. As we drove out we passed the general camping site (which is the one closest to the Hothouse Stage)....a very different story. A bit depressing really...
Still a cracking festival mind!

The MSP have followers much the same as NMA; older and younger! The scheduling was what it was.
And yes two headliners at once. MSP headlined the the Garden Stage and NMA headlined the Hothouse Stage!

Yes but to my knowledge they have a bit more fans. You can tell my searching Tumblr.  You get a few NMa topics but several MSP topics. And many involve fangirls.  internet MSP fangirls are crazy too.  Richey was very attractive and the sensitive tortured artist. That is very attractive to many girls.
