I don't mean freedom to express yourself freely, I mean 100 percent free speech.
People say we have Free Speech but in reality, we do not.
If you threaten to kill someone, then it is against the law.
If you speak about bombs or fires in planes, you are considered a danger.
If you publicly speak about using hard-core drugs, you can be arrested.
The reasons why I believe it's not good nor will it work are as follows.
1. People will use it as an excuse to abuse someone
2. Parents can verbally abuse their kids and kill their self-esteem
3. People who use it for number one can push people to hating themselves, depression, loss of faith in humanity and even suicide.
4.People use it for hate speech. Racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism , etc.
Basically humans will use it to destroy themselves and the world. Therefore like anarchy and marxism, it cannot work due to human nature. Human beings are animals and the cruelest of them all.

But... what is the alternative..? :o
Where, precisely, do you draw the line?
-
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely beleive they are free-Von Goethe.
There is free speech within laws. And that is how it should be. Otherwise its open to abuse by one and all and harmony is unbalanced. So no there is no real free speech. Just speech within guidelines.
-
But who writes the guidelines? You or me? The UK government? The US government? ISIS?
I know I'm being a contentious prick here and I don't want to wind anyone up, but it seems, to my silly self, to be an utterly unwinnable argument... :-[
Freedom of Speech or not at all?
Again, WHO exactly is the arbitrator? And who gave them that right?
-
I suppose different governments and cultures write their own laws.
Of course they can never be total free speech. There is correctly laws against racism bigotry homophobia etc.
I feel personally that we have got things correct here in the uk and Europe in general

I think anything that harms people is where to draw the line.
For instance a father constantly shouting at and insulting his son for his sexual oreintation. Not only is it harmful but also bigotry and hate speech.
However other countries use that the opposite way and make something natural such as hoosexuality illegal.
Freedom of Speech can work both ways. Good or bad.
