I don't mean people who say they are hippies but authentic hippies.
I arrived in the Netherlands today to be picked up by two happy and nice people. A couple.
Well, when I got to their home, I realized that they do not waste anything. They even recycle animal and human shit. That part disturbed me because the second smells horrific. It should not be used as fuel or fertilizer.
They also would rather everything be dirty than use chemicals. They have goats but they don't produce milk, Hens but for pets not eggs. They call these animals their friends as well as the mice caught by the many cats.
They are building a meditation room and invite people over for meditation retreats. They have no structure or schedule and no stress. If this isn't what a hippy is, then I don't know what is.
For me the first week will be rough due to the fact that it's a totally different lifestyle. My last family was obsessed with cleanliness and they would shit a brick if they were hear.! ;D
I will force myself to adapt.
So I moved into a sort of hippy commune, hitchhiked for the first time,Went into a total strangers home and drank tea , Stepped foot in Belgium the first time and have a person get frustrated at me for not speaking French... I would say pretty productive week.
Would you consider these people hippies? and why is it always in wealthy countries where people are like this? They strip themselves of obvious luxuries that everyone can afford for the environment without realizing that it does no good. there are billions of others that do not.

Hmmm... people who reject everything that has been drilled relentlessly into them, yet STILL go their own way, no matter what others may think...
Sound like anybody we might know?
;)
