Title: Did anyone make it to Bearded Theory?
Post by: BobG on May 28, 2015, 09:31:50 AM
Just thought I'd ask, as no one seems to have mentioned it yet.

I think the setlist was pretty much the same as Newcastle, except that I don't remember Summer Moors being played and there weren't any encores. Another brilliant performance from NMA and a very nice spot for the gig, with the trees behind the stage and the sun setting in front. Justin kept stepping out right to the edge of the stage to get a good look at the sunset. Finishing with I Love The World is always my favourite thing ever - being in a crowd of people all raising their arms against the fading sky and singing that they love the world is pretty special.

There was a slightly comical moment when Justin gave Ceri A Bit Of A Look and Ceri sheepishly gave his bass a bit of a tune up. My wife described it as a look that says 'you've had all day to do that, why are you doing it now?'

Anyway, Beardo is an awesome festival - always really relaxed and always in a lovely location. I've been five times now, including in 2012 when NMA weren't playing in any shape or form. Thoroughly recommend it.

Yes!

Absolutely brilliant gig.  Did you spot the other comical moment when Dean White bashed the bell so hard on TIAGD that the end of the stick he was using flew off?!

Hope they play again next year at Bearded Theory.

Yes, we also enjoyed the stick breaking moment. Shortly afterwards he was handed another mallet patched up with gaffa tape. I wonder if someone had hastily mended the first mallet or if they have a second mallet, previously repaired, on standby for such incidents.

It was a spare - ie, a previous hammer that had been battered into submission, hence the tape!

Yes, me!  My first ever NMA gig - and WOW! I was completely blown away; felt like I'd come home.

I feel like I've come to the party a little late; but better late than never, right?

Can anyone tell me what the set list was?

Here's a link to the night before's set in Newcastle - Bearded Theory was pretty similar up until I Love The World which was their last tune at the festival
