Just a quick message to say Hi cos I'm new. I posted on the Bearded Theory thread and have had such a great welcome; so thank you for the messages.
I'm looking forward to chatting and meeting you all at gigs (one of the many (!) best things about the Bearded Theory gig was the friendliness of the NMA crowd. Lovely bunch of people )
:)

Hello Sheena,
I'm quite new here as well, but have also received a very warm welcome from everyone. Unfortunately, I haven't posted quite as much as I would have liked to recently as I've been very busy job hunting owing to impending redundancy in August. It's not the first time I've been in this fix though, so I am prepared for it. Also, I am very blessed to have my better-half by my side who has seen me through this before and she is doing so once again, so I am sure we'll be fine.
Once I'm back on my feet I'll post and chat a lot more, but in the meantime I will mostly be busy cracking on with those job applications and brushing up on my interview skills. I will keep checkin' in though to stay in the loop so to speak.
All the best everyone,
Johnny

Johnny... I was in the same situation a while back, it's utter demoralising. It ain't great out there... :-\
Working again, thankfully, and I'm now in a job I really like, but there were some scary times. What I'm trying to say is that don't let the scary bits get you down. Stuff can get low but it can go the other way too and it can come out of the blue, like it did for me.
Keep plugging away and it'll be fine. And if you get really low, post here. I'm sure you've got people in your 'real life' that you can lean on, but just in case you need anyone else... ???
Best wishes and good luck!

Thanks for those very kind words Master Ray,
Sorry for not responding sooner, but I have been busy job hunting prior to my impending redundancy. No joy so far, but now I am out of work I can focus on job hunting full-time. I've registered as a volunteer as well to get some extra experience and new skills, so we'll see how it all goes.
All the best,
Johnny

Best of luck with the job hunting

Thanks Pol.

I'd like to say hello and how good it is to be among you all as well. I'm a NMA fan from just outside Boston and am, thus far, the only fan I know of. That's astounding, I know, but it's a fact. My efforts to convert friends have been in vain. The response is usually along the lines of "I'm too old for punk rock". I can't explain New Model Army without at least referring to punk rock, and that's when the eyes glaze over. My only success was a drunken party I hosted where someone I'd only met that night was complimenting me on my musical taste. He was staggering about a bit later, and saw the shelf filled with nothing but NMA. He wrote their name down, saying this was worth investigating. I hope he did. My 17 year old nephew seems to be getting it too. Other than that, I'm alone in this particular passion, which makes this site so welcome. So greetings to you all, in general, and to my fellow American fans in particular. Where have you all been hiding ?

Welcome to the forum Unruh. Its always nice to hear from fans across the pond. Keep the posts coming, its been a bit quiet around here lately.

Hello unruh. hands across the ocean my friend. im a crossword addict. if you put an "s" in your user name it would be unrush. unrushed? not liking the band "rush"? everyone has their names, silly, I know... that aside its great to have you here

Catch NMA at a state-side show (keeping fingers crossed) and you'll meet more USA NMA fans. We're here!

Just wanted to let people know I have now found a new job, and I am really enjoying it. It's great to be back at work and doing something I really enjoy too.
Many thanks to Master Ray, Pol and everyone else who wished me well during my redundancy and job searching.
Hope to see you all in Manchester in December.
all the best,
Johnny

Glad you found gainful employment mate, hope your okay and the job is going well.
Won't be in Manchester but will be at Nottingham. In Edinburgh just now n just on my first pint lol
-
Pol,
You are lucky, having a pint in Edinburgh. A fabulous city. Have another one for me!

Thanks johnny and I certainly did. Yes Edinburgh is certainly a nice city , ashamed to admit that I don't really know it well

Thank you for the warm welcome all. I'm not surprised New Model Army fans are the nicest in the world but that doesn't detract from how welcome that friendliness is. I love the site and I love participating in the forums.
I think I've asked this before but I'll give it another shot. Does anyone know with any certainty if Justin Sullivan visits the site ? If he does, I urgently need to shout 'PLAY IN BOSTON !!!' at him through a bullhorn.

It's very rare, but if you ever see someone with the name 'js', you might have somewhere to aim that bullhorn... ;) ;)

I came up with the name Unruh in a way that's exciting in a very boring sort of way. I closed my eyes and opened a random book and pointed. I obviously couldn't call myself 'the' or even 'curtains'. But then it landed on the word 'Unruh' which, it turns out, is German for unrest. And I may be the single most unrestful person I know. So thanks to the Fates for that one.
