Title: The U.S. legalized gay marriage finally!
Post by: Amandistan on June 28, 2015, 02:37:51 PM
This is a major moment for human rights and a reason to celebrate.
The conservative christian groups did not win and force their beliefs on the entire country this time.
They did not ***** so much that they got their way and denied a large amount of people equal rights.

What a wonderful moment.
No, not really because it should have already been allowed.

It's good that America has made same gender marriage legal . Full marriage instead of a civil partnership has only been legal in Scotland for the last couple of years as well.

YES REALLY

Don't suppose a Gay man being hurled from a minaret in Syria is particular upset that getting married wasn't allowed in America a few years ago.

Neither do I imagine that the LGBT community in any of these countries think it's not a wonderful moment

Wait?
Lithuania  is one of the countries?

I though it was EU and that EU had some sort of human rights requirements to join?

I admit that first Ireland and now the US is a huge step but there is still a very long way to go.
I, myself don't care what the gender is as long as I am attracted to the person. It's been both genders and being open about that is illegal in some countries.

That is depressing. People are not even allowed to be themselves.

That is a great post and a reminder to people who don't know it.

We love battering the US and the West and forget that we actually live in (flawed but) free fairly tolerant nations. There are many out there who would stone, throw people off buildings, imprison, behead, torture or exile people for a believe, a love or a political view.

I do wish we would concentrate on them a bit more, as opposed to countries like ours where you can at least demonstrate your disgust!!!!
