Greetings to the family. I'm new to you guys and still, no doubt an outsider! I'm fairly new to NMA, fresh blood some might say! My name is Glenn Eastoe, I am 31 years of age and I am a New Model Army addict.. Right. Liberation complete. I'm aware this may be a tad extreme but I've only ever experienced this sense of family before inside of an addiction clinic (scotch eggs are hard to jones out of one's life!) Anyways introductions complete and I can now get to the cartilage of my wish. I'm 31 years old and I consider NMA to be on my top 2 favourite bands of all time. Quite an achievement when I've only been listening to them for around a year. Yes I'm a late bloomer! Not that I'm anyone influential in the music world by the way!! Just another fan. Since discovering this UK based gem last year which is hidden beneath years of media pushed mud and plastic concrete, my friends and I have truly fallen in love with this great band. They are amazing. We now have hope from the grave! We have something to believe in once again :) Without carrying on with this piss poor literature too long I'd like ask for some support in Bringing WHITE LIGHT back to the set, especially for the Melkweg gig as I have already booked my flights. Selfish I know but who else wants it?? Not only is this now my 4 year old nephew's favourite song (outclassing Kate Perry btw) but my friends and I constantly break into the track during moments of inebriation and Uphoria. I live in St Neots which is actually situated on the old GREAT NORTH ROAD where most of the town was then built from the timber of the historical St Marys Church which was unfortunately burned to the ground back in the day (Sorry no facts, haven't done my research!) Regardsless of all this justification and grovelling I personally LOVE this ******* track and I reckon they should bring it back!! I've seen them more than a few times now and I for one would love to see Marshall leading the guys into this one..
PLEASE HELP 😊 X

And not a single mention of The Simpletone! ;-)

Hi glen and welcome to board and the world of all things nma and I'm glad you have finally discovered the best band ever.
Yes white light is one of many brilliant songs and one of the most personal songs ever written.
The bad news is of course that nma never do requests and if you ask for a song it won't be played, so keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best, that said its certainly a song that has been played a lot over the years
Ps only your 2nd favourite band wtf lol
-
Now that's what I call a post - brilliantly wordy :)
Would be great to hear it again but as Pol said.................... now you've asked you've blown it fella ;D
-
Great post Glen, please post some more !!
NMA in your top two bands ? give it time, they will be your top one band ;)
-
Welcome, enjoy! Nice post, please post often, anything that's on your mind, it doesn't ALL have to be NMA-related, there are plenty of threads going on but there's always space for another one!
-
Not sure I should be one to welcome you as I don't look in here very often. But welcome anyway. White Light is one of my favorites too and would love to hear it in Amsterdam. Although, it's the kiss of death asking for it as has already been said, we can only hope.

Been to many, many gigs over 25 years and one thing I've noticed is that songs fall in and out of favour all the time. Stupid Questions, for example, was ALWAYS played during the 90's yet I haven't heard it in a while. 225 was also absent for a while, got played a lot for a few tours then also got put on the back-burner. The only song that I heard at EVERY NMA gig I've ever been to was Get Me Out... until last Christmas at Nottingham.
Bottom line, White Light might also return into favour, I'd certainly welcome it. Magnificent tune.

Thanks for the replies good people. I was truly unaware of the 'request a song it doesn't get played' ruling :-X Seems I have somewhat fucked it up for all of us! However this only makes me love them even more.
Fingers and toes crossed...
-
Remember when they used to start with White Light, and it always set the tone for the gig.
Bring it back along with Western Dream
-
Maybe write a note to the web address and tell them how much it means to you and why.
Maybe someone will read it and it could be played
-
NMA never play songs that are requested... hmmm, perhaps it works in reverse?
Hate White Light. Worst song they ever did and if they ever play it again, I will throw all my CD's and T-shirts onto a big bonfire. And myself, probably.
;)
-
Or just ask for all the other songs at least twice, then they might play White Light ;)
-
Asking JS to not play a song doesn't work either. He is far too smart for that :)
-
Amandistan, my friend, think you're possibly missing the joke slightly?
Jimmy M, never saw WL as a show-opener but I'd love to see that... maybe one day.
-
The Love of Hopeless Causes is my favorite New Model Army record and they haven't been playing any songs off of it lately. Hopefully that will change soon. The album is amazing from start to finish and the b-sides are brilliant too.

Well they did start the second part of the set of the Strange Brotherhood Tour with WL. And it gives me the goosebumps when hearing it again on & Nobody Else most of the times...
-
Remember that well, Bever...
I also remember being right on the barrier at one gig and having Justin screaming 'take me back to the white light' over and over at the end whilst making eye contact with myself... a true 'hairs at the back of your neck standing up' moment... :o
-
ooh - check you ;D ;D ;D ;D 8) :-*
-
Just remembered this thread after watching this :

If my pathetic understanding of french is correct .................. it seems that it might be a good idea to get the french fans to ask for this to be played and then we might get it played in the UK ;D
-
Well, Glenn, looks like WHITE LIGHT is back in the set, as per the Holmfirth gig... good thing too! Let's hope it stays in the set for forthcoming gigs... :D
-
Worth remembering that the upcoming gigs will be mostly focused on new material
-
Agreed, Pol, but I don't think I've ever seen an NMA gig where there wasn't at least one track when I said 'damn, I didn't expect that one!' ;)
-
I see it's finally happened! And I bloody missed it. Well I hope they don't include it in any of the up coming dates because I won't be going to any of them! ;) ;D
-
I spent years waiting a miracle: they open with Alice... Oh this is the wrong board... But if I write it in the right board it wouldnt be a miracle... :P
See you all soon!

Don't worry about it, friend. Personally, I hope NMA play 'Tower Of Strength' sometime soon... ;)
