Saw the UK movie NORTHERN SOUL a few months back, loved it. It's been a genre of music I've been meaning to get into for a good long while, liked most of what I've heard... and listening to a recently-posted interview from Justin (where he re-iterated his love for NS) put it back in my mind...
... but there's such an enormous glut of material out there! Big compilations are available cheap, but how much of it is the 'good stuff' as opposed to anything that could be licensed cheaply, like so many of those crap 70s / 80's CD sets? And most of those tracks are from obscure artists so there's rarely a 'big name' you can latch onto...
It's like an NMA newbie coming to their works, but times 50... :-\
Any Northern Soul fans out there who can point me in the direction of something even approaching a starting point?

This is Northern Soul - something I started with. is it the best NS compilation, no idea, but it seems to be the tunes they play at Northern Soul nights. They're good go along...

Cheers, mate, will check that out... also, must drag my aching bones to a NS night one of these days...
Anyone else got anything?
