Production Delays for the DVD (from front page):
"For everyone looking forward to watching the DVD of the "Between Dog And Wolf - the New Model Army Story", we very much regret that there have apparently been further delays in production and these are now not expected to arrive with us until the end of September. As we don't own the film, this is very much out of our hands but we offer our sincere apologies and assure everyone who has pre-ordered it, that it will eventually arrive."
-
Ok thanks for the information about the delay, Viv.
September will be over soon. Hope there isn't any problems with the production. We'll have our hands crossed for the crew making the DVD. :)
-
The Cadiz music website says 20th November. :o
-
Well, I suppose now I know want to ask Santa for... ;)
It'll get to us when it's good and ready.
-
So now that September has ended, can we get an update? Have the DVDs arrived & are they now shipping?
-
We hope to have some news very soon.

From the front page:
***INFORMATION ON "BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF - The New Model Army Story" DOCUMENTARY DVD***
We stress that we didn't make, and nor do we own, the film and so we are not in control of this process.
We have some good news and some bad news: part of the DVD packaging was made in China and has finally been done. Of the thousands made, the company has agreed to airfreight a limited number directly to our Shop for people who have already been waiting for months, with the remainder of our orders, and those for all other outlets, coming by sea.
So we can now say that next week we will be mailing out the package to anyone who ordered with us before 1st September. We apologise to all those who ordered later that there will be a further delay in delivery.
-
:'( will there not be a download option? I think my anticipation may be the death of me, if I have to wait for the slow boat from China...
-
I assume the orders made before September are going by air freight, if not a space rocket. But we who ordered after September are sitting in a same boat in midst of the Pacific Ocean... ;) :-\
-
As we have said from the outset: whilst we co-operated with the making of the film it was not our idea to make it, we did not finance it and we have no control over the means of production, download options or packaging. We have passed on all information we have been given and will continue to do so as and when we get it.
-
So has anyone received their DVD yet? Let's hear some reviews..
-
Postie has just been and I'm holding it in my hands right now! The dvd.... not..... Nevermind.
Looks beautiful.
-
I just received it, will watch it tonight !
Sad part : the case has multiple little impacts that removed the paint, the cover is a bit smashed and the hinges are out of line (hope I was clear enough, french speaking person bla bla bla ;)).
The DVD seems in a proper condition, will see that tonight, but the way the package was treated by posts offices (english or french) is a bit sad because it's a really nice object !
-
Home and nothing in the letterbox - but postie was 2 hours late today ;)
Nothing to complain (one hour extra without subtitle shouldn`t be a huge problem)
:-* to all involved in that project

Don't take this as a review, just have a minute to share a few thought.
So, appart from my damaged case, watched the movie, it's amazing, a treat that is well deserved for this incredible band that is so unique, in term of success and fanbase.
There’s every aspects of what makes NMA, energy, passion, romantism, deep thoughts, some nostalgia and even a bit of sadness.
Made madame even more disappointed that their wasn't any christmas show in Paris this year (yes, we're sad about it, and it's too difficult for us to go elsewhere to see christmas gigs ;)).
A must see !

I got mine copy today.
I saw a screening at the cologne sound track festival and i enjoyed it very much. but after thinking about it for a while, i had some criticism which i wanted to share here, but as lazy as i am and as chaotic the last several weeks to me were, i didn't.
today i started with the extras of the dvd and almost all my points of critic were gone or to say were in the extras.
i tthought and still think the regular cut just misses a whole lot about the music of nma. about how the music is done, written, about sessions in the studio, about the workin process.
i wanted to write, that i miss footage of recording sessions, information about how much nma is playing live, doing music. about that, what i feel about the band is most important, is the music. no tv, no ads, no promotion, you know what i mean.
i think this should be a bigger part of a nma documentary.
but the extras deliver an intense part of that. you have justin visting the place where he wrote high and you get that impression combined with the lyrics. this is a wonderful part of the docu and i think this is sad that it's cut out. there are more very interesting parts in the extras.
i know you have to decide what to use when you make a docu. you will have ten more times footage of what you can use, to make it a film about 90 min. so you have to cut.
to me this extra parts are very important and round up the documentary, so i have to recommend the dvd edition of this film.
without them i would say there's something missing.
two other points of critic to the dvd:
since the extras are so important in my view i think it's sad, that they are badly encoded. i think this is due to limited space of a single dvd. a second dvd would have been better to achieve better quality and i would have paid the extra cost.
in cologne i asked if a blu ray edition can be expected and the answer was yes maybe, if i remember right. so that could be a solution to that.
i put on the german subtitles and they seem to have been done by google translator. these are really bad. they help you trough the movie but sometimes you just have to shake your head. i know this is an expensive process to do subtitles, but if you do them do them correctly. i feel comfortable to watch the film in english but out of curiousity i put them on. i don't know how the other languages are handled but to me this point makes the whole production a bit cheap looking.
just some thoughts about the dvd edition of a documentary of my favourite band.
i totally recommend any interested in watching it.
