Introvert basically is a personality trait meaning that you are energized by spending times alone and need solitude to be happy. Extrovert means you are energized by talking and spending time with people.
Which are you?
I am the first and i actually envy extroverts.
For example, Now I am doing a language immersion program in Poland. I seem to get more drained and tired than some of the polish speakers. I have to talk to people from 9 am- 11 pm with an hour break. I feel like collapsing in a bed and crying. Even physical labor that hurts your body is easier.
Is anyone else mentally drained by too much socializing?

Introvert I guess. Like my own company. Like the company of others too but for a certain amount of time. Then i gotta do my own thing.

I'm a bit of both, I'm very happy to spend time on my own though I need something to see me through be it tv internet play station or a DVD , I really enjoy going a walk by myself in the countryside. I'm at ease in social situations though be it work or in the street or gigs etc

I am also a bit of both. Catch me on a good night, like something NMA related, and I'll talk to anyone and do my best to be an amusing and sociable character. But most nights I have to say I prefer to go back to my little flat and shut the world outside...

I do not think polarising people helps. We are both introvert and extrovert. Even an extrovert has to have time to contemplate and re energise. Ive also seen people you would call introvert hold the room if a subject they are passionate about comes up.
For every left there is a right, for every up there is a down and for every forward there must be a reverse.
Me, I suspect I am extrovert, have to be to run the company. If I cant convince people we are ace, and we are, no bugger is going to hire us to build/demolish/plan/consult etc.

Yes, I have to agree with that Idopas. Are you introverted or extroverted? -- yes !! I'll have one of each please. Depends on the crowd, the mood, the alcohol content, lots of things. Even if its a good or bad hair day :-\

I'm a bit shy and tend to not meet new people outside of my usual friends and family, so maybe more introverted than extroverted i guess!

In my personal life mostly, very introverted. Social situations scare the feck out of me. I usually have to force myself into them, even with people I know. Just to spend a few minutes in conversation in passing at a gig with someone is hard for me.
But...............
At work, put me in a meeting room with buyers, surveyors and project managers and I'll charm the pants off 'em and walk outta there with a contract in my handbag.
I don't get it really I think it must be something to do with playing a role at work but in personal life there is just me ???

im very much introverted these days. self analytical of my old days and people that knew me then. it can drive you mad, which it did in my case, it did. i used to go all the gigs in my area (Northampton) then i seemed to hit a wall in my late 30s.
now ive made great steps into my 40s im still the quiet person in the room. hiding maybe at the back.
please don't treat me as a troll. i went through enough then. i was open at least

What's 'trolling' about that, mate, appreciate your honesty! And rest assured, you're among friends here.
If you ever get to an NMA pre / post gig meet, feel free to meet the rest of us. You can say little if you want, we don't care as long as you get your round in :D

It takes courage to be that honest, so why would anybody treat you as a troll for that? :)
Like most people here I am a bit of both, I suppose, depending on the situation, companny and mood.
I am a bit shy but sometimes it doesn't take much and I'll be more than happy to talk to and get to know new people. It has been said that I am a bit...ummm...talkative at times, too...so maybe more of an extrovert?
Love some me time, though, just reading or walking the dogs :-)

A bit of both really but because my job is mentally draining I enjoy solitude to regain my sanity and also love to be Lou and laugh alot at gigs with friends
