It's been a long time since I was on the board, and 3 years since I've seen the army after many years of the annual fix! I'm deeply excited about getting back into it tomorrow, wondering if there's a general meetup in Edinburgh, I'm coming alone and it would be lovely to catch up with some Family
-
I'll come seeking tshirts, there are 2 pubs, either side of the liquid rooms. No doubt the welcoming Family I've known for many years will be there or thereabouts :)
-
I've heard talk of some kind of bizarre 'elitism' amongst Army fans. I've been dealing with so much personal stuff that I haven't been able to attend recently. Tomorrow I'm finally free to catch up with the best band in the world, with the best fans (Family). Please be in touch, I'll be terribly disappointed and alone tomorrow otherwise
-
I like the Bow Bar just down the hill - great range of beers but pretty small. The Irish bar on the other side, is certainly bigger and is pretty much what you'd expect.
I'm not going tomorrow, after doing most of the run last week instead. I was going to finish work early and get the train up, returning to work the following afternoon but I decided it was a bit much! Every other time I've seen them at Liquid Room though, it's been an early show due to a club night afterwards. Not sure if this is the case this time or if it's been covered elsewhere on the site.
-
Aye, the Bow Bar is a superior pub, what used to be the Preservation Hall on the the other side is all pseudo-Irish and probably not even cheaper these days. Sorry to hear you won't be there Hughie, who will?
-
I will be there tomorrow, was planning to arrive in Edinburgh about 5 pm , last time I was there most people were in pub just past the liquid rooms not sure but is it Finnegans sells lots of real ales etc, will be wearing 30th anniversary t shirt black combats and boots, I have a zero crop with a spider tattoo on right side of my head n speak with a Ayrshire assent. Pm if you want, I will be travelling from Ayrshire via Glasgow on the train.
There is certainly no elitism amongst nma fans I've definitely not encountered that infact the very opposite. You could wish to meet a nicer more friendly bunch and to prove it I will buy you some pint lol
-
I won't hear it said that NMA's Family aren't the best fans in the world
-
I tried to send a pm, it didn't seem to work. Whatever, I'll be hanging around the Irish pub and well up for the gig
-
I got the pm and replied See you there
-
Travelling up from Ayrshire to Edinburgh. I've got 2 spare tickets as mates called off last night. Still a few of us going for a pub crawl beforehand. Welcome to join us.
Anyone still needing tickets? PM me.
Thanks.

Gotta agree with Pol, I don't notice any elitism amongst NMA folks nowadays... has any of it come off of this Forum? Hope not... please address if so... :(

Yes, thankfully those days are long gone. Certainly kept me away in my early years of loving this band. If there were a "most important fan"now, then its brand new ones who need looking after because they have been missing out on things for years. !!

Pretty sure that's it.
Another great night. I thought the crowd was a bit subdued to begin with, but by the time we got to Orange Tree Roads the crowd were starting to get into it, and by the end the place was in the typical NMA frenzy. Loved it.
Delighted to see No Greater Love getting a airing.

It was an excellent gig. I had intended to meet Pol beforehand, but was halfway to Edinburgh when I realised my ticket was on the board in the kitchen. Idiot. Thankfully I made in time, just, for the band and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I echo Jimmy M in being delighted that No Greater Love was played, always been a personal favourite
-
Would agree it was a bit strangely subdued at the start. Fcking pissed off I missed the encore especially as fcking missed my connecting train from Glasgow to Ayrshire anyway n had to get a taxi, at least I had the sense to phone a private hire mini cab n it was extremely reasonably priced. Had a great night all same took it fairly easy for me n stood/ danced badly at the back of the pit , only one minor scratch on my head. Wearing my new totally awesome skull t shirt today.
-
Not meaning to rub it in Pol but I was nominated driver last night and I drove back to Ayrshire after the gig.
-
Surprised to read two views that it was subdued early on, with States Radio second song and then straight in to March and No Greater Love. Just start dancing yourself when you fancy and no doubt others will join in.
Certainly after A.I.D, it's full on all the way I think.
-
Thanks for that Jimmy lol
-
There are quite a few videos from the Edinburgh gig on youtube, I'm sure you can find the rest yourselves
