Terrific set list (all eras represented!) in a great venue, just the right size IMO. The sound quality was excellent. Decently priced beer too! Also a crowd that were truly spellbound during the rare quiet moments, none of this loud-talking bollocks that has marred certain other venues.... yes, Rock City, I'm looking at you... ;) ;)
That second encore... who else left before it? The lights came on, the PA started playing other music, I left as did so many others, if wasn't for me having a smoke outside, waiting for my mate, I'd have missed it, but the bouncers (nice guys!) said 'er... I think they've started playing again...' ;D
Great gig, great venue, great night.

Got to admit,I also left but got back in for 2nd encore.Smallest venue I've seen them play in a long time.Think it was even smaller than Buckley Tivoli.Plenty of reasonably priced hotels close by.Would love to see them play there again.Closest we North Walian trogs get to a hometown gig ;D.Totally agree re set list.

I stayed where I was after the 1st encore as Michael never gave away his sticks ;)
Never got to meet you on the night, but did manage to meet Knutty and LCG and loads of others.
The venue was just the right size imo big enough to cope and small enough to keep the intimacy when justin did his solo :)
Kind of put right the wrong of the last time they played Chester all those years ago

Cheers for the set list Master Ray.
Was pleasantly surprised when they did the second encore, and what a great set list it was too. I did have reservations about the venue, but good to see the balcony open and it was a great atmosphere, and a great gig.

I'm presuming that when Justin mentioned in playing in 'an acoustic hell', he was referring to the long-gone Northgate Arena? Can't think of NMA playing Chester since, even if it was a small JSAF gig... Chester hasn't had venues until the Live Rooms opened, a shocker in a city with so many students in it!
The pre-gig... my f-up. I meant to meet up, truly, but didn't research exact directions... to add to my embarrassment about this, I mentioned it to my fellow gig-goer mate Dan (not on this Forum) much later and he said 'Kash Bar... yeah, we walked right past that one...' :-[
Oh well, whose for Nottingham? Pregig and postgig! :D :D

The Northgate is still there, and yes that was the acoustic hell and no they'd not been back since. (that was my first live NMA experience.....good job it didn't put me off :D )
Chester only has a few small venues for music like Alexanders jazz bar, telford's warehouse and these a basically pubs with a stage. So when the Live Rooms took over from the previous owners of the building we finally got a 1/2 decent venue. (it was previously a comedy venue)

Hmmm, that is something I'd really like to experience at least once!!!
Thanks for the review and setlist, I reallycan't wait for the Cologne show! :D

It's ok, I don't really mind, it's all about sharing and it's not as if I have any legal rights to the songs
