I'm pretty sure that something like this has been posted before, but I can't seem to find it whilst rummaging through old posts... so let's start afresh.
I want to hear an excellent song with a great video that most folks on here will say 'Damn... never saw / heard that before!' ;)
So here I go with 'Blind Pilots' by The Cooper Temple Clause... starring a pre-Hollywood stardom Michael Fassbender...

Mmm definitely a interesting video, very unexpected twists, damm I'm going to have to post a tool video since they make some of best - hope that counts - is many people on here into them - if not they should be - one of the best bands ever Imo

I hope this is what you wanted, I hope this is what you had in mind

What, YOU sometimes turn into a satyr and then a goat after a night out? I thought that was a bloke thing?
:D

Yup. Well, I turn into something otherworldly... :D

Perhaps this one
16 Horsepower - Not one stone
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2D98Y1p3eU
or
16 Horsepower - Splinters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJiTdSqJ3gw
I think, DEE (Woven Hand now) has less money to produce a video than nma and so some fans do the job for the band for beeing on yt

Nice! Prefer the second one, but both good tracks / videos.

OK, everyone's heard of the Manic Street Preachers, but here's a rather forgotten tune of theirs that I love (with a great video), 'The Love Of Richard Nixon'.... this actually got to number 2 in the UK singles charts!

Should you get the chance to see Anna Calvi live, don't miss it.
A bit of Tom Waits and Link Wray perhaps... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEt0odB7ljg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEt0odB7ljg)
Still fully addicted to this four years after it was released.

Why is Begbie now played by one of The Chuckle Brothers? ;)
Joking aside... looking forward to it with reservations. The original is an absolute favourite of mine. But can it capture the same cultural wave that it did in 1996? Doubt it... still, original director and much of the same cast back, so that's good. Also, I believe it's based on the book sequel 'Porno', so I can see why they've called it 'Trainspotting 2'... I believe that googling 'porno' might throw up some confusing results... not that I would know about such things...
-
Will be nearly impossible to live up to the original . As long as they do it justice. Not sure how much of porno will be included. They have shown a few teasers in the National papers and news up here. Ie Renton and spud being chased down princess street Edinburgh having stolen a iPad. The gang at Arthurs seat (the big volcanic hill in Edinburgh)
-
Hadn't heard of this. Thanks for the heads up. Also adore the original. A lot to live up to, but if it is only half as good as the first - that is still worth watching
-
Can I post what I think is a great gig . Ok I'm a bit of a tool fan - its not a crime. Found this from 1992 , tool without the hugh live production , video screens and lights etc . Worth a watch I think.

a little off topic and directly to Pol:
Do you know "Blood into wine" ? (no not between wine and blood;-)
It's a documentary about Maynard Keenan as an entrepeneur as a wine producer.
Totally worth watching, even if you are not a tool fan.
and on topic:
i would have posted a link to:
UNKLE - rabbit in your headlights
but i couldn't find one to the original video, only cover versions.
totally brilliant video! if you find it, pleae post it.
and since i'm somehow in an aggressive mood, no let's better say mood of rage, "...do not go gentle into that god night, rage, rage, against the dying of the light..." i give you this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9AXDPCWics
well, totally 80's, mtv-style video, but then also very own and powerful, i find. i love this band. still don't know how to think of it in terms of a total manufactured band product. but back then and still now, i find they had some subversive power and were one of the best pop-bands. totally love the lyrics.
and now, even raging more and going into a dark, fucked up state, my own production, (well, it's a great song with a great video and pure coincidence that i did it ;-) to a gwar song. it's a very hard edge, violent accusation of war and the protagonists in that game. "it's no surprise, that young men are heroes...."
i really advise not to watch it, if you don't wanna see very cruel pictures of war.
the lyrics are very important to this:
i hear your piteous shrieking/in this land of death/and boils and bees and rpg's/and piles of prisoners masturbated on
now you are on fire/you curse the choice you made/your humvee a pyre your life to expire/your face and a name and a corpse thats bathed in flames
come join the war party/and see exotic lands
your blood has stained the desert sands
aaaaahhh...
i hear your body burning/a piping and piteous sound/the crowd tears apart your corpse/after the flames have gone down/you're dragged through the streets/with a chain around your neck/hung from a bridge on the outskirts of town/they never find your head
still you expect pity/and you shall receive none/why does death come hard for you/you gave it to some/you joined the war party/your purpose was clear/you did your job with skill/you raped and you killed/why so surprised that you finally got billed[..]
all men die so don't ask why/what the **** else did you think you were for/you were made to decay/it's better that way/this is the price of your war

Didn't know that Maynard made wine, will check it out sometime

Just remembered this one... 'The Next Day' by David Bowie, the title track from his big comeback album and what a great tune and video it is... starring Gary Oldman, no less...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wL9NUZRZ4I
I seem to recall that it was originally posted and subsequently banned from Youtube, due to 'explicit content'... and Mr Bowie then got on the phone to whoever is in charge of Youtube and got the decision reversed... c'mon, if David Bowie asked you to do something, you'd go along with it, wouldn't you? :)

BUMP
So, Madness are back with a new album and I love this song, great video too, it's called 'Mr Apples', right up with their best IMO...

Like that tune. I must investigate She Wants Revenge further.
If we're talking about obscure bands getting exposure from TV shows, I've been liking Chromatics, a band who played this great song over the end credits of the first episode of the Twin Peaks reboot. Here's a fan video with much TP footage (old and new) over it's near six-minute running time. I really love this tune.

I think that is the best GD song I've heard in a good long while... thanks for that.
Ever seen 'Mein Land' by Rammstein? Who says East German industrial metal bands don't have a sense of humour?
