Hi all
Coming from a long way to Manchester gig and I'd like to know where is the pre-gig drink ?
Grand Central ?
Thanks a lot
See you on Friday :D
-
Howdy Patrice. We usually all meet up in the Salisbury. A pub just behind the Grand Central, and close to the O2.
-
Thanks Shush
See you there with Master Ray, if I remember you ::)
-
Still working on Manchester, probably gonna be a last minute thing if it happens... knowing my luck I'll be able sort it out and it'll sell out the same day...
-
Great to hear, hoping to make it to the pub in time too (and post-gig shenanigans), will be great to put some more faces to names! :) 8) :D
-
Cool
I shall also be there in one state of sobriety or another :D

Right, sod it, decided today that I'm deffo doing Manchester on Friday! I can get a late train home. Obviously, this is assuming it doesn't sell out... I'd book online but there isn't time to post me a ticket and I don't have a working printer to print out an e-ticket. I'm presuming that The Ritz sells tickets on the night... the website mentions the box office being open between 12 and 2pm but doesn't say anything about the evening (probably because it's a dumb question, but still...) anyone got any advice on that point?
And from one dumb question to another (I can't help myself)... I'm assuming everyone knows that doors open at 6.30, indicating an early start from the guys, probably about 8 or thereabouts?
Hoping to see NMA pals, old and new, but if I don't get the chance to say hello, sorry, this gig is going to be a quick 'in and out job' (there's a dirty joke in there somewhere), no chance for an extended meet... can't wait for Nottingham, pre-gig, GIG and aftershow? With a hotel booked around the corner? Truly excited about that, can't wait...

Anyone fancy putting something in their stomachs before drinking would be most welcome to come for some dim sum in Chinatown. Thinking 14:00, can't remember the name of the restaurant at the moment, will update later.
Edit: found it:-

Let me know if you fancy it so that I can book.
Cheers

The usual meet up is The Salisbury, but it does get busy, with generally not enough bar staff to cope with us all.I shall be in there later, but earlier in Lass o Gowrie,Thirsty Schollar,Font, and maybe Peveril of the peak. You usually get a beer discount if you show your Ritz gig ticket.

Band played an excellent set last night. Agree with what someone else said elsewhere, they played the new songs so well it felt like they had been playing them for years. Thanks to the band for a top gig :)
I think there was something of a gap between the production dominated sound of BDAW and the tracks from it played live. Not so with the new album. Winter has filled the gap.

We had problems with our hotel, forced to change it at last minute
Then we were refused entrance to Salisbury pub due to my son which was under 16 >:(
And no Vagabonds played with a beautiful violin player on stage :'(
A deception for my son
Great gig anyway , band was excellent
Greetings to the people I've seen at last time in the pit

It was a great gig. Great pre-gig too... good chats with good friends. JC and ruckedout, wish I could have followed you to Leeds, just wasn't possible. Until Nottingham, eh... ;)
About the gig... I was up on the balcony, but THAT pit? Looked mental down there!
Shush is right, the tunes off the new album were greeted with as much fervour as 'the classics'. I think Winter is now deffo in my top five fave albums.
Hope the aftershow was as good as expected, I nipped out for some food and after that it was time for the last train home... can't wait for the Notts aftershow. :D
A top, top night that, after a rough year, really put a smile on my face and a skip in my step. Cheers, NMA-folks.

It was good to see you too MR, shame life is getting in the way of a good tour.
Hope to bump in to you soon.
Cheers

Sorry to hear that Patrice. If it makes it any better, you would have had the same problem with a youngster if you had opted for the Nottingham show instead. UK pubs in city centers are very strict on such things.
I fared batter with our hotel choice, The Principal. Walk back after The Grand Central meet was about 5 seconds :)
Saw John Robb there in the morning having breakfast. Did look at his "Louder than War" page later on half expecting to see a review of the gig, but it turns out he went to see a band called Earth also playing in Manchester on the same night.

Didn't need to be 16 to be refused entry , more like track suit bottoms ! Suggest bouncerless meets next time
