Hello all. I've written a historical novel. I thought there was a chance of there being one or two folk on here who might be interested.
There may be a prize for whoever can spot the most phrases or sentences that might have been inspired by lines from NMA songs. There are certainly a few.

I've read quite a bit of historical fiction and I get a bit fed up with 'heroic' characters who have a great fondness for lopping people's heads off and bragging about it, but are somehow still regarded as good eggs. So I've tried to do something a bit more human. The narrator, Wulfred of Ellasham, is a young Saxon warrior, but he'd rather be doing pretty much anything else but fighting the battles of his king.
The excellent cover illustration is by our very own JD.
Also I've recently discovered that the title is similar to the title of one of those Game of Thrones novels. I find this irritating, but I'm not changing it.
Oh, and apologies to admin if this is considered innappropriate self-promotion on the band's site. Do please remove it immediately if that's the case.

It's also the name of an album by ex-Marillion singer Fish... ;)
It does sound interesting, I'll check it out! And good luck with it, I used to fancy myself as a bit of a writer, but never had the discipline to finish it up...

Looks very tempting to me,I love a good read when it's not text books but have slipped back on reading for fun lately.
Good luck with this Bobert,I will deffo try to fit your book in over the summer hols. Brilliant cover, buy the way, that would grab my attention in Waterstones.
:)
Robert Garrod, not to be confused with Robert Goddard who's books I also love.

Thanks for the kind words folks. Yes it would certainly be attention-grabbing on the shelves at Waterstones, but unfortunately even if I could persuade Waterstones to stock it, the way things stand at the moment I'd get about 25p for each copy they sold. Hence it's currently only available online.
But on a cheerier note, here's a film of me reading a short extract to whet everyone's appetite. That's what we authors do nowadays. Lacking the support of an increasingly risk-averse publishing industry, we make fools of ourselves in public. It's quite fun.

I've also got a Facebook page on which I sometimes post updates and harangue people to buy the book and write reviews:
