-
I meant keep these dates free ::)
-
Certainly intriguing...
-
Hey everyone, I've just edited the title of the thread as it gave the impression of something happening on the 18th of April as opposed to 13/14th April 2018 :-)
-
ooh :) :) :)
-
Well the dates fit and given it’s only 15 miles from me would be pretty spectacular:- I can live in hope!! http://www.metalgigs.co.uk/event/13499/Undercover-Festival-VI-2018
-
I wouldn't have thought it would be this, I'm hoping for something more driven by NMA themselves.
Whatever it is it's gonna be great!

Exciting!!!!!
-
When quizzed about it at Preston last night,J.S. (with a glint in his eye)wouldn't reveal anything)
-
Maybe 2 nights at the Minack Theatre....... :)

Nice idea that TXP but Cornwall outdoors in April could be bit of a gamble ;D
-
Interesting that it is over two days. My best guess, a mini festival. Somewhere in the wonderful Yorkshire countryside near Bradford. NMA headlining the two nights. During the two days, other bands that have a connection to NMA, current and past support acts and such like. Maybe a poetry tent and an acoustic tent. ?? :-\
Really looking forward to finding out though
-
We'll know the details just after the Christmas gigs, I guess :)

But is a festival really that unique?

TXP
:D that had crossed my mind too
-
Here's my tuppence worth: maybe they'll be recording the new album live in front of an audience rather than in the studio. Joe Jackson did it in 1985 with Big World and Richard Thompson a few years back with Dream Attic. This would certainly warrant the announcement of a "unique event".
But would I make to the Island? It would rather depend on the location and flights available, methinks. Fingers crossed!
-
A unique event?
NMA play a gig and it's really shit.
:D
-
How about a gig with all ex members included?Stuart,Dave,Nelson, even Ricky warwick.would surely be a night to remember, but in hindsight with Justins penchant for looking forward and not back,Cant really see it happening
-
Unique event,what a "capital" idea.

Ha! I opened up a thread a while ago about how NMA play bloody EVERYWHERE in the UK but never seem to make it to Stoke! I'm at the other end of the D-Road...
I'd love to see NMA play The Sugar Mill, cracker of a venue. To my shame, I didn't attend the gig in 2006, can't remember for the life of me why. Be excellent to see the lads there again!
-
NMA play along Mekong Delta in one of those slow boats from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh , then get out in the rice fields and play on the back of water buffalo. Combining music with the relaxed and friendly area of the world. This will never happen but one can dream.

The live shows are just as good as they ever were, no doubt due to the excellent material that the lads have been putting out for the last few years... been to four gigs in the last year-and-a-bit and I buzzed just as much as I did as a teenager in the EMI years...
Hope to see you somewhere down the road!

Would be a nice xmas present if they announced details of the April event during the last gig of the year tomorrow night ? :-\
-
NMA Twitter says big reveal tonight at 1700 ;) :D

Nights of A Thousand Voices'
13 th and 14 th April 2018 at Round Chapel, Hackney, London.
You know those moments when the band plays quietly and the whole audience sings the words? Sometimes, these are the most emotional experiences - because singing together is the oldest and most basic form of human art, something primal and truly shared. So we are planning two nights of just this, which, to the best of our knowledge, has never been attempted by any band ever.
We have chosen the Round Chapel in Hackney both for its amazing open acoustics and for the circular layout of the room, which we believe will be perfect for the spirit of the event.
These are not concerts as such; this is a community singing event for all those people who love our songs, who love singing and love the feeling of singing together with others.
The venue will be fully seated around a small stage constructed in the centre of the room; the whole band will be playing but the
arrangements will be deliberately stripped down and very quiet - there will be no big PA system. The nights will be all about the participation and voices of everyone who comes.
While we are open to suggestions, ultimately we will choose the songs that lend themselves best to the idea – strong melodies and slower, easy vocal rhythms will suit best and we will vary these over the two nights. We will issue song-books (included in the price of the ticket) as we understand that people often know particular lines and choruses but usually not all the lyrics; and, of course, we plan to record and film both nights.
Tickets will be £27.50 or £50 for both nights and will be available exclusively from our Shop. Details will follow next week.
If you love singing and love New Model Army songs and love the sense of community that we have created over the years, we hope you’ll join with us from all different corners of the World for these special nights

You have a lovely voice MR, like liquid chocolate! I usually sing my head off at gigs anyway. Interesting concept this. Bravo to the brains behind it
