well, though they said that for this event "strong melodies and slower, easy vocal rhythms" would be the choice, i'd really love to experience what will happen, when "get me out" is shouted by thousand voices.
i think that could be some kind of cleansing experience.
it also would be cool, if they divide the room for some songs in different lyrics, so one side is singing the chorus and the other the main part or something like this.

The Mermaid Song!
-
It`s not a JS solo "silent song" gig and so I prefer other songs, perhaps
Archway Towers
1.000 voices crying "No , No, Noooooo" in a church .....
-
The Mermaid Song, good call Raven!
Lotus, I guess the priests willl try to turn folks away with crosses in hands and talking loudly something about pagans infecting the Church. :)

Die Trying
You Weren't There
Hey, dedicate that one to me, seeing as I doubt I'll make those two dates... ;)
-
Oh.. you love it, too? :)
When it's on the list, I will sing it extra loud for you!! ;)
-
If the aim is for songs that are easier for a group to sing, I would go for Autumn, Rivers. I think "Light go out" would also work well. Between Dog and Wolf. I am a fan of the songs with more long, narrative versus but think they are harder to sing. I know some are coming from France and Italy who do not know so much english. One friend of mine often uses translate. I imagine something like "Another Imperial Day" or Island would be harder for them than it would for native speakers.
-
In all seriousness though, if you think about it some of those tunes won't lend themselves to a hushed atmosphere.
I was listening to NBTS yesterday and couldn't help thinking that GREEN and TWILIGHT HOME especially would work wonderfully!

Hopefully it won't be a hushed atmosphere with everyone belting it out

I wonder if the name 1000 voices came from the song White Light?
-
Bad Old World is a great singalong, Fireworks night would be beautiful, High too!
Rainy Night 65, Living in the Rose too...

As my son is half French half Morrocan, and will be at the concert, I have to tell that Marrakech is a good idea :-)

Ah, what about Price then? Just think about its chorus... Agreed that Brave New World piano version might be crackin' awesome.
I or Minna aren't able to join the gig, unfortunately. But as some people have mentioned it would really be very interesting to see a DVD release about the gig.
It would be curious to know how the singing of audience will be recorded? How will the audio technicians do It...

Yeah, same here. I imagine it's going to be quite challenging, new, interesting... hopefully not a chore, burden, headache. That's a lot of voices they'll be dealing with.
Rusco, hope you don't mind, I'd like to post your question in another thread. If that's not ok, let me know.

Very kind, generous... thank you, Rusco. :)

An obscure and presumably humorous vision: I bet you folks don't want to sing a Betcha choir ... or Notice Me ... or Sex (the Black Angel). ::)

Anything but Green and Grey - that's one song I'd never want to sing at the top of my lungs with a few hundred other so inclined folk.
:D
-
As my son is half French half Morrocan, and will be at the concert, I have to tell that Marrakech is a good idea :-)
That sounds like it would be really hard to sing as a group.
-
I really think that dog and wolf would be good and over the wire. The suggestion get me out is fun but maybe not. Can't wait to see what we will do though.
-
Lust For Power (won't happen)

-
well, well, well...this is not so easy to decide. but just because i'm always also thinking about if the song is good with minimal instrumentation and if its a good song for the event, etc...
but that is definately way too much thought. so here is my list:
- drag it down (a good one to sing in a church, i guess)
- white light ("out in the su hu hun...")
- ballad of bodmin pill (a must!)
- long goodbye ("straight on for the days ahead..." maybe a bit of a personal choice at this moment)
- orange tree roads
- heroes ("we are not children anymore..")
- 51st state (c'mon. we HAVE to sing this! we are prepared to do this!!)
- snelsmore wood ("these are the days that we'll recall...")
- bloodsports ("screaming loud i am not at war..")
- the charge ("on, on on...")
- 225
- aimless desire
and sooo many more..
-
Just "Modern Times", "One Bullet" and "Autumn" .... I'd be more than happy. But I remember Justin's "We do not do requests" ;)
-
As my son is half French half Morrocan, and will be at the concert, I have to tell that Marrakech is a good idea :-)
You must have been happy ! 😁 and that was an amazing moment, the song worked really really well.
Seems we were not a lot of French there (even less Moroccan I assume 😉)
