Please give the rest of us a review of how it went, what happened etc. Hopefully someone will post a vid or two on utube.
-
More details/info please..
-
The detail is it far exceeded expectation, there are plenty of vids on the Book of Faces. The venue is superb, the sound was amazing, and the atmosphere electric. We also had the biggest post gig meal ever (circa 60) the poor restaurant coped marvellously.
If you had any doubts about Sunday’s matinee, just buy the tickets.
Cheers

I wonder how did they handle it with the songs, so everybody knows what to sing from the textbook.
Did they project the numbers on walls like in a regular church meeting?
-
Hi,
Justin announced each song title before they started playing. As the crowd was so close, the band had small/well concealed setlists to keep some degree of anticipation regarding what songs they were going to play. This resulted in some comedy moments as Justin announced the wrong song title a couple of times!
-
Justin would announce the next song, we would miss that because we were talking, and then we would scrabble around frantically as we recognise the first few chords but just can’t remember the actual name, then you overcome your embarrassment and ask the peopb around you. Just like a church really.
Cheers

Yes, it was funny to see people asking each other the upcoming song, and then hearing lots of « page 42, go to page 42 » (or any other number but 42 is the answer to everything so I chose it for the purpose of my message).
It was an AMAZING NIGHT, already sad that we can’t go on sunday
-
There are videos popping up on spacebook.
-
Unfortunately there is no f***book in my universe.
But my flight to London will be tomorrow morning to join the matinee show :D
-
It was unique. So powerful.
The faces! The smiles on the faces!
It was so joyfull. So much happiness and power.
And we did pretty well singing I'd say :-)
-
Now bring this across the pond please.
-
A truly amazing night and experience - almost ruined by a complete idiot not reading the ticket and going to the Union Chapel in Highbury and Islington....thankfully the band were a little late on stage so after a frantic bus ride and a quick jog i made it in time albeit very hot and sweaty - standard for an NMA gig!
225 and G&G were emotional!
-
I don' think they did BELIEVE IT on friday !

Thank You New Model Army!!
i wanted to say thank you!
to the band, the crew, the people who made this event come to life.
from the first idea to arranging and managing the venue and the concept.
the songbook, the toilets outside the church (in my young angry times, i was once proud to have pissed at the cologne dome. but these times have changed. still angry about most of the priests though...)
it's like the most democratic thing in these totally undemocratic times we live in, i have witnessed.
the band gave the audience a voice and made something truly just for the fans. or better said something to do together with the fans.
this special feeling, to sing loud and be a real part of it instead of just singing loud in the audience.
and it was this cool thing to suddenly think: "****, i screwed that sound up. and now the recording of my own concert is ruined"
we were participating and celebrating and i cannot say enough how much i enjoyed that.
and i want to say thank you, to all the nice people i've met and talked and drank and sung together.
i thank jeff for being such a nice asshole (well, he said that, i think and know that he is a nice guy;-)
i thank steve for the beers and the uber, which drove us after the fine meal at the turkish restaurant.
we landed in soho in a metal bar, listened to some metal songs, drank some shots, banged our heads, steve throwt some cans while jeff and me banged our cans at the table...and then i was somewhere in the nowhere, trying to get home and didn't have a fuckin' clue how to. but i love these moments, totally satisfied with everything, travelling to the unknown...and i did get back to my hotel at 6.30, checked out at 10 and found a way home to germany.
i thank jc for his nice presence and taking care of the payment at the turkish. we just left you there with our money. i hope everything was allright.
i thank nick for the beer at the round chapel and his statement, that he liked my high pitched screams at the show.
it was nice to meet anna, fabio (he should win the trophy for longest journey: from brazil!), semmelknödel (blame canada! i wish you the best)
i did record some stuff, but when i listened to it got ashamed of my voice. so embarassing, but with full force. so i hope i manage to edit some thing together and post it on youtube.
please produce the dvd (blu ray?) very fast, i'm so looking forward to hear the sound from a good recording instead of the shitty smartphone ones (which i love to watch and listen to anyway;-)
this could be also a very good thing to include some of the videos made by the fans.

Yes, cthulhu, absolutely!
I was still struggling how to say it, but you did it perfectly!
So just the small addition from myself:
Thanks to everyone, every voice, every emotion, I had so much fun during the 2.5 events (had to leave mid-session on sunday), and could not stop smiling the rest of the week-end. (...which resulted in irritated looks from many co-passengers on the Overground..)
A thousand times „thank you“ to NMA for having made that happen!
-
Hello Klaus, it was a pleasure to meet you, the poor restaurant were a little overwhelmed but it all worked out in the end :)
M were you stood next to a lady with red hair and an arm in a sling, shame you had to leave part way through.
Cheers

Right, thanks, JC!
I liked your sunglasses that day, and I love the description you gave on the announcement of new songs - you nailed it!
-
That was conjunctivitis rather than a fashion statement, hope to meet you for a full gig next time.
Cheers

Cthulhu, it was great meeting you. Sorry we forced you to go out to the Crobar instead of quietly digesting your meal. But it was an awesome highlight in a weekend that was basically all highlights. See you next time.

hey steve,
i think i played a big, drunken part in the "operation crobar" and i have to thank you for arranging the ride. you should have forced me though to stay for saturday and cancel the flight..
i regret this really a bit, there were still so many songs to sing..but that's now in the past and i'm just thankful for the marvelous time i had, including the strange song-wishing-maschine in the crobar which i totally didn't get how that worked;-) but the shots did work!
and i had a real funny way back to the hotel, mumbling in my phone, documenting my totally lost "where-the-hell-am-i" but satisfied state i was in.
@jc
i saw a picture by jochen melchior, with you standing on the shoulder of someone. i liked that!
-
so...here is a video i just uploaded to youtube...
its lights go out and i punk-edited pictures i took around the round chapel before the concert on every space where i didn't hold the camera to film. enjoy my loud and annoying singing, but i did it passionately and so its ok!;-)
i hope everyone who is seen in the clip is ok with that. i know jeff isn't that quite fond of it, but hey pal, you're looking good... 8)
