Title: 10 albums you'd take on a desert island?
Post by: Rusco on April 21, 2018, 10:16:52 PM
Another silly thread...

If you'd be forced to move on a desert island and you could bring only ten records with you, what would they be?
Only one album per artist!

Mine could include:

NMA - T&C
S.O.B. - Thrash Night EP
Dead Can Dance - Towards the Within (live)
Pete Namlook & Bill Laswell - Outland, vol. III
Voivod - Dimension Hatröss
Miles Davis - (come on, any compilation by him...)
Discharge - Fight Back EP
Damned - Machine Gun Etiguette
E.N.T. - Holocaust in Your Head
Kimmo pohjonen - Kalmuk

LOVE a silly thread, sir!   ;)

Now, my opinion could / WILL change on a daily basis (as it did when there was a previous thread about 'top ten albums ever'...) but as of today, with only one album per band/ act (and in alphabetical order...) it would be...

Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle
David Bowie - Hunky Dory
Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
Marillion - Clutching At Straws
New Model Army - Impurity
Pulp - This Is Hardcore
Rollins Band - Weight
Talk Talk - The Colour Of Spring
The Smiths - Meat Is Murder
The Who - Quadrophenia

 :D

Cheers Jack, a bit surprised someone else likes some of my choices, went for stuff I wouldn't get  bored off n a bit of a range of rock music.  Went for nobody else as it's a double n love the way the gig builds up.

Pol, I'll also throw out some love for Cyclefly (haven't we talked about this before?  Saw them supporting some band or other in the 90's and I thought they were excellent...)

Already re-thinking my top ten...  I somehow missed out 'Dog Man Star' by Suede, 'Master Of Puppets' by Metallica and '30 Something' by Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine.  But which albums would I replace them with?  They're all great albums and I can't pick one above the other!   :-[

Ten albums?  Not fair!   :D

Id exchange one of mine for Iron Maidens first album. Not sure which though. Maybe I could smuggle it in my pants past border control.

Ooooh, so tough - but very interesting, too.  8)

My choice might indeed change tomorrow - but I am going to try very hard...in no specific order:

3.) The Cure - Disintegration
4.) Andy Prieboy - Upon my wicked Son
5.) L.A. Guns - Self titled
6.) Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses
7.) Royal Blood - Self titled
8.) Black Star Riders - The Killer Instinct
9.) Dead Can Dance - I'd have to throw a dice...The Serpent's Egg or Anastasis
10.) Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark

Title: You ask the impossible... just 10 ALBUMS... no BOX SETS... lol. ;D
Post by: 8 on July 02, 2018, 10:13:38 AM
This is an impossible task for me.  Been pondering it for quite a while now.  lol, I was going to cheat by picking my favourite box sets, but you clearly state / request albums.  So I can't nail it down to just 10, because they'd be all NMA/JS albums beginning with 'Winter' going back 9  but excluding all the live ones because I'd want to get as many different songs in the pile as possible, so that I would be able to include 'Navigating By the Stars'!   So there you have 'em.  :D
