The Royal Wedding sort of captivated my country. Many I know awoke early to see the blessed event. After all, a divorced, cable-TV actress American is marrying a Prince of England. Pretty bizarre stuff if you think about it.
I wonder what the pulse of England was regarding this. I know you folks weren't too keen on Wallis Simpson marrying your King Edward. Have you moved past that? Was their great excitement for today's wedding?

Could'nt give a monkeys who marries who,so NO excitement in my world...........i think i am probably in a minority here in Jersey....(A Very Royalist Island).........

I don't think Scotland gave a fck

Neither did I ;D

Im not a Royalist by any stretch of the imagination
I think its an antiquated establishment, that maintains the status quo in the country. BUT...I cant wish them any harm as fellow human beings. Id imagine despite all the privilege, its a role you give your life to and a lot of the country does like the monarchy. I do have respect for both of Diana's boys simply because, they're more grounded and have served the Country. I didnt watch the wedding, but as one person to another, whoever they are, you can only wish them well, even if they have no impact on your life.... Right??? :-\

More interested in the cup final(and that was a boring game)
-
I also didn't care either about the wedding or the Cup Final :)

I'm not a Royalist by any stretch but I kind of feel sorry for them both. I wouldn't trade places for all the tea in China.

Very well said!
And yes, regardless of how anyone feels about the monarchy, thes 2 guys seems to have turned into very decent human beings who try their best to do something sensible with the role they have been given in life.
Watched the ceremony over breakfast - but it wouldn't have bothered me if I had missed it. ;)

I have no idea why Americans are so obsessed with it. I did not even know the date it happened until people on fb posted about it. I have far more important things to do than watch that.

Because he married an American!
Well, that's not exactly true. We were also obsessed over the William and Kate and Pippa marriage. I suppose our interest lies in the fact that we don't have anything remotely like The Royals. (Closest we have is The Kardashians.) The Royals over there really are a strange, fascinating thing to us. And also, who doesn't love a wedding? So we watch.

Well , i don't like to watch a wedding of the ultra wealthy that costs far more then most people in the world will ever earn in their lifetime. I get quite disgusted by extravagant when other people in the world struggle.
I am sadly stuck being a US citizen. I just got back and had forgotten how expensive housing is compared to what people are paid. Many have to work 60 to 80 hours to afford it. I am disgusted by the massive separation of rich and poor. Sadly we don't have enough enraged Americans to take to protesting on the streets . Making a big ordeal about the rich kid's wedding celebrates the 2% in the high wealth bracket. I don't personally dislike the individuals getting married. I don't know them. I just have no interest in watching the wedding.

You can change your citizenship you know. Im sure that there are thousands of people living in poverty in Sierra Leone and other places who would love to be a US citizen! :)
