Title: Paris, December 2018
Post by: Guillaume on December 15, 2018, 12:20:28 PM
to answer Guillaume, I hate the trabendo. Sound is most of  the time awfull (was not at the 30th anniversary or last year, was yesterday, really really terrible, like 2D sound, you could hear every instrument distinctly but flat, with no « dynamics »),

Ok, so it wasn't only Patrick and myself to think the sound yesterday wasn't so good...that's strange because i remember good sound for the wonderful 30th birthday at the Trabendo back in November 2010 :(...also i saw the band there in 2012 or 2013 and i didn't remember the sound wasn't good, too.  But yesterday night was a bit different, wasn't it?

At La Maroquinerie, a few years ago, Justin said he didn’t wanted to play another venue in Paris anymore

Why?
I have good memories of their french gigs, especially the Normandie gigs (in the nice venue Big Band Café near Caen) or the Trabendo gigs in Paris!...yesterday despite the uneven sound the gig was very enjoyable, great audience, and great performances from the band.

And two years ago, le Divan du Monde was also perfect for NMA.

I remember that i didn't like too much the venue, back in 2013 or 2014..
so which are the best places to see NMA in Paris? La Maroquinerie, Trabendo and maybe others places?

(Hadn’t seen you made a separate topic)

The Trabendo can have a good sound, but that’s a bit of a bet, and I don’t like betting on the quality of gigs sound  :)

I think he said he wanted the Maroquinerie all the time because this is just one of the best, if not the best, Parisian venue  :) but it’s a bit small for NMA too. Weren’t you at this one ? There was such a craziness in the air, I think they even played an encore with the lights on because people refused to leave. One of my best NMA gig. But this was for Paris, he didn’t said he didn’t wanted to play elsewhere in France ! (Saw them in Caen too, for Love of Hopeless Causes, I remember Justin asked us to smash the chairs of the venue at the start of Stupid Questions even if he knew they would have to pay for it « we’re sorry about the ******* chairs, smash them up if you want, this is stupid questions », I remember the sentence because we tapped the gig with my friend, don’t know where this tape is today  :)).

For le divan du monde, what to don’t like about the venue ? Amazing sound, great balcony, you can see the stage properly from anywhere ...

The venue was never called Contrabendo, but yes, it is the same place, don’t know why they called it Contrabendo for Russell dvd (and it’s the only occurrence for Contrabendo in Google  ;))
