Zombies would freeze here. Xombies don't.

I couldn't help but notice (thanks to pics sent by Jack) that ya'll over in the UK are (or were) having a wee bit of difficulty navigating the sudden snows you got.

I also remember the sheer chaos that ensued back in December 2010, when I flew over there to see the boys, and your airports were shut down by four inches of wet snow.

So according to the weather forecasts tonight, we are looking at temperatures hanging around a warm, balmy minus 28 degrees Celsius.  But with the wind chill, we're looking at around minus 41.  There is literally three and a half feet of snow outside my house right now (give or take a few inches...I can actually hop over the fence, because there is snow packed down against it so high, the top of the fence hits my knees...it normally is up to my chest.)

With the exception of people saying, "Screw this, I'm staying home," I expect the city will run like clockwork, and no one will even really talk about it. It's January, and this is pretty normal for you if you've lived here a while.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not posting this to brag about the hardiness of Edmontonians or poke fun of the UK, but to ask you all a question.

How is the weather where you live RIGHT NOW, and if the weather is terrible, how are you keeping yourself warm and cozy, and if applicable, with whom?

I myself will be bundled up under a blanket with my Andii and the kids, watching The Royal Rumble and sipping on hot drinks.  Awesome night!  :D

We're only made of water...The full moon gets us high...We can change our shape to anything, as often as we like.

If we did"nt moan about the weather here, we would have little else to talk about and  would have to find real problems --

The best Winter whether I ever saw was in Louisville Kentucky a couple of years ago. We were inside all day and when we came out, there had been an ice storm. Everything was covered in an inch of pure clear ice, even the rented car. When we eventually prised our way into the car, we sat with the heater on for half an hour, then eventually the side window could move, and left behind a perfect sheet of ice where the glass was. Glad we don"t have that here, old Ladies would be slipping down like shots of Jagermeister !! :o

The snow only really lasted a couple of days down here (London), it was great, I particularly liked Wessexey's post about a neighbour using the recycling box to make snow bricks for an igloo.

Needless to say, society didn't collapse this year and the chaos did not ensue. Maybe it was just the added mayhem of a Xombie in town.

This year's debate was about how soft we are as loads of schools closed because of health and safety. In my day, we just put on an extra jumper and pair of socks and got on with it, and slipping on the snow was just part of the fun.

Today is a balmy 8 degrees Celcius maybe I'll be out in my thong. Tonight we'll be under a blanket watching a film with a hot chocolate and will raise a mug to you all.

Cheers

Doesn't everyone know that moaning about the weather is a national sport (with queuing)?
We are only here for 650K hours, are you killing time or living it to the fullest??
