U Rotundy… If you’ll ever come to Prague, this pub will be worth a visit, if it’ll still exist. Just imagine Prague – absolutely full of tourists as it usually is. But, imagine that there’s still this one magical, very affordable, stinky old-school pub located in the centre of Prague… Years ago when I accidentally marched into this pub, I could not believe my luck nor the fact that this kind of place could actually still exist in the centre of Prague!
So, it is my favourite pub indeed – this week I had lunch there thrice. It’s that kind of place where you can always go, no matter how crap you feel. All the countless hours spent there: reading books, sipping beer, doing office work with a laptop when fed up staying at work, watching ice hockey matches, having great conversations with random people and friends, having stupid drunken conversations with friends...and all that beer... Here's my and my friend's bill from yesterday's... slightly extended lunch
What can you do? Sign the petition! People got upset when they heard about the impending termination of the lease for U Rotundy and created a petition. There's one pub in Prague -old school, cheap, near Prague castle- that has been saved by public petition some years ago: U Černého vola, which is also worth a visit. So everyone hopes the same might work for our dear U Rotundy...
