An NMA weekender...?
« on: August 24, 2014, 07:28:47 PM »
So... a couple of my favourite bands (Marillion and Madness) are in the habit of doing a weekender in a seaside town, ie taking over a Butlins or Pontins (non-UK residents... a holiday camp  ;)) and playing three gigs in three nights... anyone else think that this would be a cool thing for NMA to do?

I'm sure that it could sell out several times over... plenty of money for the band, a special experience for the fans, some support acts that NMA like and would alert us to, some signings, maybe a Joolz poetry thing... sounds like a win - win thing to me!  The three nights could be an acoustic show, followed by a rare tracks show and, on the last night, a full on NMA 'hits' kind of a thing...?   :(

Just a thought, but I think there are a lot of folks who would be well up for that...  any chance of something like that happening?
... but at what point does it stop being CPR and start being like trying to reanimate a corpse?

Yes certainly a good idea Ray and there wouldn't be problems with accommodation, even a couple of nights would be good. Even though I'm not a fan the Levellers would probably be a good support

Somehow NMA headline Butlins doesnt do it for me  ;D
Hala (from the Anglo-Saxon word "halh", meaning nook or remote valley), until it was gifted by King Henry II to Welsh Prince David Owen and became known as Halas Owen

Well - They did the two nights for the 30th.  Maybe a full week for the 40th?
