Questions about Cologne
« on: December 22, 2014, 08:41:37 PM »
Hi, everybody,

Being a bit of a completist I've got two queries:
One, who was the harp player? Justin did introduce him but I didn't catch his name.
Two, what was the last song Hugh played? It did sound like an old Stranglers number but I'm not sure.
Any help gratefully accepted.

What a gig, eh? 17 songs from Hugh, 32 from the Army, if that isn't value for money I don't know what is.

The problem is, as Justin acknowledged, what's next? I have seen NMA more than 30 times over the years but this can't be bettered IMHO. Well, they could do a Metallica and appear with a symphony orchestra next year - nudge, nudge, say no more...

Or the could go electronica or have rapping in the background.
or kidnap a visiting spaceship and make a sound completely alien to this world.  :D

Or just continue of the path they are going.
Where I'm from is not my home, and neither's where i'm bound.

What about the a cappella version of No Rest followed by the Elisabethan madrigal of Wonderful Way to Go?

I'm almost certain that last song was Nice n Sleazy, which is a Stranglers song.  It was certainly in the 3 song encore anyway but I can't be 100% certain it was last!

You could tell that Hugh and his band were genuinely very pleased to be called back so enthusiastically for an encore and they seemed to really enjoy the whole gig.  It was also a nice touch having him back on for the Kinks number in the New Model Army encore.

Cheers, mate but nice & sleazy was the last but one song.  The final number had a chorus which went something like love on my own terms.
But I totally agree with your assessment. Hugh and band had a whale of a time and his coming on for the Kinks song was the icing on the cake,

Ah, sorry in that case, I can't place, or evidently even remember, the last song at all then!

That`s not the best way to find possible new fans ..
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me

No-one appears to have answered this yet. It was Tom Moth (aka Monger), who is one of Ceri's brothers and is a member of Florence and the Machine.

Thanks, Jibberish.

That leaves only one of my original questions unanswered :(

Hugh also did Tank, and one review says he did Souls but I don't remember that one!

Thanks, Lotus, the video from Bilston swung it:

The final encore was certainly Tank!

Problem eventually solved.

Thanks again to all contributors,
