Von Hertzen Brothers
« on: January 27, 2015, 07:38:31 PM »
Some of you might know the band? I think Danny or someone mentioned them some time ago.

Yea, well they are a Finnish rock/alternative/indie band (been around from 2001) that remind maybe a bit of Foo Fighters. They call their genre "Epic Rock". Very talented guys, who tend to go at times even a bit progressive, but still staying on a clean ground of real kicking rock. Strangely, at times they remind about Foo Fighters or Soundgarden and maybe at times even a hint of Deep Purple or Rush in their riffs.

Anyway, here are few links to their songs on YouTube:

New Day Rising

Flowers and Rust

Insomniac

Enjoy, cheers.

mmmh, wasn't me I'm afraid... I know (or at least knew) a couple of Finnish bands, but not them. I'll have a listen though :)

Oh, I remembered it wrong I see. However I searched now with their name inside the forum and it seemed it was Tony S.

I don't own any of Von Hertzen' albums but have heard them so many times that started to get into them really. Especially the New Day Rising.

Cheers

Yep, it was me who mentioned 'em a while back.  I've still only got their most recent album, Nine Lives, which I thoroughly recommend to you. I do want to start delving into their back catalogue at some point. Also I saw an interview with them in Classic Rock mag or somewhere that was saying they are intending on going in a much more straight ahead rock fashion on their next album. But given their talent, I'm sure it will be rock with lots of interesting twists.

Tony, you know when I was a kid and we lived in Espoo near to Helsinki, there was a detached house with a beautiful garden next to the rowhouse we lived. It was sort of oblivious to see there but as little kids you know, you went to all of the places to know them. I and my friends used to sneak during shady evenings there to find out who was living there. Their surname was "Von Hertzen". It's a very uncommon name here and I'd suggest the kid with a same age who was living there is someone from the band nowadays.  ;)
