Hello folks,
Here we could talk about playing cards in general.
Also, I would be interested to hear your thoughts about playing cards based on the NMA?
As I told in a previous thread on the Trades & Swaps section I'd like to manufacture, craft, or print by hand a pack of playing cards that consists all the needed four suits and 'pips'. There should be a joker and all the other needed special cards.
The technique, or a 'media' to do this is called
woodcut. That means, I'm going to carve images in plywood plates and then the image constructs only in the embossed areas. Then I roll printmaking inks for relief printing onto them and put them on the press table with an acid-free quality paper and print the images.
It will take time. I'd assume it's going to take some, maybe a couple of years before there would be the first series of playing cards. If I'm satisfied with them I may print more editions with my press.
The questions in my mind are what do you think
who would likely be the characters that are used in the cards? Justin and band members, Joolz, and maybe some odd former band member?
If you're interested here are couple of links to playing cards on the web that've been manufactured by printmaking:
