"Work begins on Calais wall to stop refugees trying to board lorries to UK"

Is this the new normal?

Not really a new normal, more of a continuation of a theme unfortunately  :( Higher wall seems to become more pertinent with each passing season as the world turns inwards and more insular as fear takes it toll.

Maybe you're right. I spent 3 months in Europe this summer. What a strange experience.

Brexit, massacres in France, the rise of the far right in Germany, a coup in Turkey and people are catching pokemon.

As someone who hasn't lived there for 20 years I don't really know what to think other than that it's all going in the wrong direction.
