I don't really think you can grade the lyrics down on an overall personal level as you could do this with many many other songs. I guess that this song stands clearly in it's political context about radical changes the world has to face at the moment and further on and it won't even get better until the end of days.
Well, i can! ;-)
Just kidding...i think i understand what you are saying and i see it the same way, kind of.
but i also kind of think that everything is based and seen on a personal level.
but of coure, the lines we're talking about deal with what you've said, the political context about radical changes and that's what i also mentioned.
but what about this. my personal level is: that i already acted on the end of days, years ago.
when i decided for myself, that i don't want to live in a big city for what is about to come in the near future and i made a radical change, where i chose to live again in my small hometown.
normally you live there where you find work.
so my radical change was, that i wanted to find work where i chose to live. and to do that i began an apprenticeship at the age of 39 to become a chef, because that was the work i could do there.
so to me there is also this very direct personal meaning, the release-date of the song, the phase i'm in at the moment and its meaning itself, what it has to say. it's like a confirmation and recognition of that feeling i have and so it is important to me.
and remember that the personal level i was talking about has to do with synchronicity where by definition there are:
"meaningful coincidences" if occuring with no causal relationship, yet seem to be meaningfully related.
