Chumbawamba call it a day :-(
« on: July 10, 2012, 09:59:18 PM »
  :(
Bad news announced on the Chumba's web site

http://www.chumba.com/index.php

announcing that they are calling it a day.  As a group they have given me a huge amount of  pleasure over the past 30 years and one of my proudest 'achievements' as a parent was that my 3 kids could sing along word perfect to everysong on Anarchy (cept for Mouthful of Shit which we always skipped)  between the ages of about 8 and 12 and even now many years later they can still sing along when they hear tunes such a Homophobia, The Day the Nazi Died and  Enough is Enough.

Today is NOT a good day  :'(
In a world full of no ones,  I am a someone

They will be sadly missed. I don't know if its a sign of my advancing years but I preferred the acoustic/folk chumbas of recent years. A great live band who wore their hearts on their sleeves.

Lots of good memories. The audience participation during The Day The Nazi Died was always a very emotional moment at gigs.

Relating to another thread, they were one of the good things about England and one of those groups that couldn't have come from anywhere else.

Sad news this, have seen them many times over the years.  First time I came across them other than the tracks on Bullshit Detector was supporting Flux at Sunderland Bunker.  Brilliant show where they stole the night and made them a firm favourite ever since.  I, like Guy, probably enjoyed their more recent folk outings more than the full band experience and am saddened that they have decided to call it quits.  Thanks for the memories.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Saw which was the winning side still I joined the other

I first saw them supporting FLUX and felt the same. I'd never seen anything like them before or since.
Tonight, as you stare at the ceiling again
With your lover turning away
Disappointment closing in
Like the walls... and you try...
You try to talk about love
And they put their arms around you
But you still feel all alone
Wonder why...
